Hi Holly, Thanks so much for going live. You and James are quite unique individualists that I admire and enjoy watching. You have an amazingly positive way you handle challenges and nothing stops you. You are also sweet and joyful….and really fun to watch. Have you watched any utube footage of Kristen Neuschafer who just won the GG’R? I thought of you and wondered if you would ever try that race? I agree with James that you need more viewers to relieve some financial worries. I grew up sailing in Maine and the cape. My dad had a 28 pearson….I now live in the desert so I stay connected to the wondrous ocean through you and the other solo sailors. You are special….and an inspiration to other women to go where mostly only men go. I am older now maybe wiser….and I love watching the younger generations…..what will you do? It is your turn now…..Thanks much for the time you put into your videos and sharing your family too.

Do you use downhauls and are they led to cockpit, are halyards led to cockpit. Is there an index of what episode what tech things are in? (Bud in Haymarket, Virginia US. May I suggest Holly, but also you James - hearing Holly will be heading for Vanuatu soon, to visit Tonga Islands [Vavaú -Ha'apai - Tonga -Eua] - if you can - bcos, when I was there (twice) too long time ago this, then almost untouched group of 90+ islands, was one of the highlights on our whole round-the-world adventures. Rajai Ampat, West Papua, Indonesia is exotic & excellent for diving/snorkeling, but probably expensive...Fair winds!

That thing about boat size…the difference between a 25 foot boat and a 30 foot boat is pooping on a glorified bucket and sitting on a decent toilet, but that comes at a massive cost. Just docking fees…my Tanzer 22 at $65 per foot is $1430 to have a slip for our 6 month sailing season here in NY. 8 feet adds $500 just to dock it, but when you go over 32 feet, the price per foot goes up. The other thing is the sail plan…a small sail area requires a more sturdy mast, a more sturdy set of shrouds, thicker dyneema, and more intricate electronic systems because manufacturers include more advanced stuff to help sell larger boats. Compare a Catalina 25 to a Catalina 30, and you’ll see they’re two different WORLDS of boats, but they both sail wonderfully.

Presumably briliant, but as a non-native speaker my mind cannot fill the gaps in the stuttering audio to restore it to an understandable story. Perhaps next time you can lend an extra phone/laptop to record the audio locally, so if it turns out this bad you can restore it in the aftermovie. Cheers and bon voyage!

@claybornlewis276 Жыл бұрын
Okay I was watching an old video , when you were leaving Madagascar believe it was or somewhere I can't remember now... but you had to stay up all night and hold on to your rudder because you don't have automatic pilot... does your boat have automatic pilot now..? because I felt so bad for you out there in the middle of a rainstorm freezing your butt off and you couldn't even go to sleep ... because you had to hold onto your rudder if you don't have an automatic pilot on your boat yet ... let me know I think maybe I can remedy that situation for you...❤

I couldn't make it for the live version, but this is pretty much unwatchable in playback... the audio is in and out, every 3rd or 4th word is garbled and the volume seems to go up and down... Funny thing is, it was perfect in the first few seconds, until he asked people to tell him if the sound was good, then made a quick adjustment... after that the audio was pure crap...

Solution for bad audio...record audio only on offline phone, convert to useful format, overwrite with clean audio after live-stream. Win win.
@userjarabecko Жыл бұрын
Or just use external mic. They used laptop buildin mic which is just a tiny hole like half a milimeter wide and it actually sucks at getting audio especially word endings when your voice volume is getting lower. There is plenty of cheap external microphones easy to use plug into USB port or mic in port. Even the cheapest mic is better than buildin
