Thanks Jonathan. Just watched your first vid about Sayintentions and having looked into the various ATC options etc have decided to subscribe to it via your channel. 👌

I live 30 minutes NE of Modesto, in a small city named Oakdale. Feels weird hearing a guy with a British accent, from across the pond, doing flight work so close to my home.

Ive got Say Intentions, but have been spending more time with Beyind ATC. They both have their strengths, but the cost structure and traffic injection is pretty massive for BATC

You request flight following once your released from departure. Once they say " you are leaving my airspace, frequency changed approved" After requesting flight following, they will give you your sqawk. Then they will acknowledge your position and your on your way. And in flight following you do not need to ask for permission to increase and decrease altitude. As long as weather permits VFR. However, you should remember in the US your heading determines your altitudes, IE odd or even . And in VFR add 500 feet. And your comment about flying heavies in your previous video, which was great by the way, was spot on. Your not really flying the airplane, your just putting in numbers into computer and the airplane flies itself. Thats why I'm a GA sim pilot. For me, it's just more like flying. 😂

Yep - I'm slowly adding more and more to the videos - getting them closer and closer to real-world procedures. The odd/evens thing is interesting - it's not consistent around the world - and not even consistently implemented in places where you it *is* supposed to be a convention. The same goes for VFR conventions actually - I've already had a conversation with SayIntentions about it - they are trying to implement the various regional differences into it - so that's going to be interesting to investigate later :)

Forgot to mention - the reason I requested the altitude increase was because the initial instruction on departure was "no higher than 1500ft"
@James-xt5cc17 күн бұрын
@jonbeckett yeah. In the US, a heading of 0 to 179 degrees its any odd thousand feet. 180 to 359 is any even thousand feet. In VFR you add 500 feet to that. Point being it separates aircraft. And here VFR must remain under 18,000 feet. Above is IFR only and thats when the standard barometer setting takes effect. 29.92.

@@jonbeckettI heard that, and I knew if you were going to Truckee you were going to have to blow that 1500 feet up! 😂

john can u do a video on installing sayintentions please thinking of getting it
@jonbeckett17 күн бұрын
It's not difficult to install - you just run the installer, and then launch it after MSFS is running - it detects it automatically. Within SayIntentions, you can then map buttons for radio transmissions, and intercom.
