A member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, she has also received the PEN Center USA Lifetime Achievement Award for Literature. Her next novel is Perestroika in Paris and publishes in December 2020.

B. What I really enjoyed about this book was that, although it was bizarre almost from the beginning, I began to realize that those early chapters were the comfortable parts and the new strangeness from the midway point until the end caused a severe sense of paranoia
