Great video! Thanks for sharing... A bit of a tip regarding your electrical having done this several times, and from someone that is a stayaboard on a self sufficient cruising boat. What I would do is to get your boat set up with your inverter/charger as well as a S.O.C. (State of charge) meter before you even consider changing your house battery bank. Then disconnect from shore power and see what you really use for energy. That will give you some real (vs calculated) information for your house battery bank size. On my 47 footer I run a pair of Victron multiplus inverter/chargers with a SOC meter and a really cool CERBO display. Even if you do not choose Victron it would be good to at least look at their capabilities for comparison. I run a pair for both increased charging capability and redundancy. Not much worse than loosing your inverter/charger in a remote location. Something to consider... Best of luck on your refit.

Guys I have been following you from the beginning and I love your channel I am hoping to follow in your footsteps soon so thank you for all the positive vibes! I do however feel the need to comment on episode S06E14 the way you boiled the lobster to death in my opinion is far from cool! as there is no need for the suffering, I love to eat lobster and have hand caught them diving and dispatched them by using a sharp filleting knife and splitting along the midline on its underside this way its very quick. You Guys are awesome Keep up the good work and fair winds. Kindest Regards John C

Bostonian and Mainer here. Best thing about New England for sailors - endless coves, anchorages, inlets, peninsulas, rivers and marinas. Worst thing: Massive tides, everyone has a boat, lobster buoys and the season is maybe 5 months.. and it rains for 2 lol. Also: Half of NY & CT has moved here and bought everything up so prices and cost of living is off the charts!

First a lobsters brain is about the size of the tip of a ball point pen, so the likely hood of killing them first that way is very small. Second they don't have the portion of their brain that feels pain. So though it may make you feel better, it really is doing nothing for the lobster

East coast lobster newbies, lol... last week I was going to warn you not to grab a lobster while free diving. Unlike in the islands our lobsters can fight back. There is a bit of meat in the head compartment and the green is the tomalley (liver) and is fantastic spread on buttered (+garlic) toast or baguette. Pro tip: to break open the claws without coating the walls with the meal, you know who you are...lol. Take a large chef's knife, holding the claw on its edge, whack the blade (sharp end) into the shell and then twist sideways, the shell will very easily split apart. On the Canadian side the lobsters are much more succulent so we suck out the meat from the legs, and the the tail fan. I love to hear you cooing about the east coast beauty, In the meantime I'm in the SW islands...have a great week.

A tip on toasting. When you toast something, make it clear and short. It's not time to wax on lyrical, it's an acknowledgment of good deeds or of upstanding character. Once you touch glasses, not another word is spoken until all have agreed and sipped in honor of. Now you do it whichever way you want to do it. It is a tradition that carries great weight and as such, deserves to be upheld. A toast done correctly shows refinement, dedication to principles and bestows the seriousness and heartfelt nature of the toast upon the person or event. I am no sailor but an elderly sea captain I hold a deep respect for, taught me this in my younger days. It takes practice, not that I am promoting drinking more, lol, but a tradition worth keeping is a tradition worth keeping well. As you go along, you teach and share, right? To your health!

Nice job with the caulk. Just be careful with what soap you use as a lubricant when tooling. 1. Don't get ahead of your bead. The soap can become a bond breaker. 2. Make sure you're using soap and not a detergent. Grease cutting dish soaps like Dawn are detergents and can cause curing problems and discoloration for some sealant compounds. Ivory, for example, is a soap and is generally safe as a tooling aid.

try a hair dryer to pre-heat the caulk. typically it will just peal right off but sometimes not. After the old stuff is removed try using denatured alcohol to clean the old area free of soap and grease. Some folk run their bead by pushing the bead instead of pulling or dragging like you showed in the video. By pushing it can force some additional caulk into the crevices ...however with you using blue tape and forcing the caulk with your wet finger it does the same thing

Maine lobsters (Homarus americanus) have claws, which equals more succulence. Spiny lobsters (genera Panulirus, Linuparus, and Nupalirus) usually don't. Fine tutorial on how Maine lobster fishing is regulated. A bigger pot and placing the lobster into COLD water is a MUCH safer cooking method. A live lobster into a boiling pot will slap boiling hot water onto the cook, as Desiree demonstrated. If/when Atticus reaches Machias, ME, there's a really good lobster restaurant right next to the boat ramp and convenience dock, also serving huge pies for dessert -- provided they weathered the COVID-19 lockdowns. Beware the tide swings. Fear of falling overboard is best mitigated by remembering to swim -- even when fully clothed, with or without a PFD. Practice, practice, practice those 'crew overboard' drills as part of the mariners' adventure. Blessings, S/V Windwalker

I was in awe about the caulk removal, Jordan, and masking tape - it shows experience, indeed. When you removed the tape, that removal creates a tiny hollow, though. You may have run your soapy finger over the new caulk once more to solve that, if not, the hollow will collect dirt and at some point may become a nuisance (if only visually that would annoy me personally in my house). Well, you taught me how to remove the current one - thank you :)
