Buy this book “nuts bolts and fasteners “ by Carol Smith, the reason your bolt broke is simple “single sheer” and not enough thread engagement. That book will be very helpful, trust me I have been working on professional endurance race cars for 20+ years

That bolt is a problem, i said this before, maybe set it up with a longer bolt with spacers, the leaver arm is lower then the bolt connection, the thingy mer jig is too high that the bolt connects too, Yes the Pilot Drive, i am talking about the Boat Lauren,

Also that book will teach you about shank load vs thread load. Basically you should never load a bolt on the threaded section always on the shank

I worked for a German camera distributor, Rollie, and the president would always go to St Marteen, the Dutch side, with his family. Now I get to see a little of the other side. Mako said, "You broke it. You fix it." Glad you are with close friends💖🌞👑✝️😃

4:30 I think that bolt broke because they put a bunch of washers underneath it instead of on top therefore giving out a lot more leverage against it but what do I know? I just know a lot about steering and stuff like that get off-road cars.

Shouldn't use a fully threaded bolt in that application. Use a bolt where the shoulder passes through both parts. The threaded part as you discovered will fracture easily in a shear application. But great job with the temporary repair. I got quite a chuckle out of the ingenuity.
