I like how the Megalodon is depicted as it’s own large species of shark and it’s not just a big great white shark.

while yeah it's not just an enlarged white shark, it's still depicted inaccurately in this video. It was still a lamnid, which is the group that includes sharks like White sharks, Mako sharks, Porbeagle sharks, Salmon sharks, etc. Otodus megalodon should still at least retain that basic body shape, and not something like what was shown in this video. The blunt snout, tiny fins, and overly chunky body do not fit lamnid body plans at all

Do note that most of the larger Cenozoic sharks reached such sizes IN SPITE OF cetacean competition (cetacean competition, especially in the role of apex predator, was actually much more stiff from the Late Eocene to the start of the Pliocene than it is now); they didn’t get big because cetaceans hadn’t overthrown them yet, they got big because they were able to successfully compete with cetaceans.

And these aren't old fisherman records from the times reporting was very shoddy; these were recent in a few cases. So yeah, there are potentially whale sharks still alive which are roughly the same length of some O. megalodon.

This is the best Shark size comparison video ever, this is going to blow up quickly, knowing how much people are fascinated by these creatures. Edit: I don't want to come off as a rude and pathetic person or something, but I think the size of the swell shark is a little off at 0:40, it should be about 82-85 cm.(Really really sweet video tho)

According to my shark reference book published by University of Florida's zoology department and a few other sites, the average is indeed around 90 cm; though of course plenty of individuals can be smaller or bigger.

7:38 the cretoxyrhina is roughly as large as deep blue, the *largest* white shark, although the cretoxyrhina can get even larger. 8:00 can get up to 54 feet in length, and 44,000 lbs. 8:55, 10m isn’t even average size, it more around 12 meters, but they can reach 64+ feet, and 101,000 lbs, it’s the second largest shark, and nigh top 5 in terms of large fish. Otodus megalodon at 9:10 is not the median estimate for the megalodon, conservatively placed at 60-75 feet, some estimates even claim it to be 82 feet, around 25 meters, it’s the largest predatory animal in history aside from maybe the shonasuarus, it outweighs almost all species except the blue whale, at 227,000 lbs.

V rex takes this. It’s only slightly longer by 2 feet but very massive and chunky in terms of overall build, can jump around like there’s no such thing as gravity that gives it a wild amount of speed and agility, and can take a ridiculous beating like there’s no tomorrow.

@@Arghust It would be very close. Keep in mind the giga has literal armor plates on its back the run the length of its body so pouncing on top of it would not bode well for the V.rex. And also the Giga's bite would more than likely be able to peirce the V.rex's thick hide. It's hard to say though both seem quite evenly matched

@@warcrimes1014 I just did a size comparison to see how exactly the Giga scales with the Vrex and I found a problem. The Vrex is much bigger than 50ft. From what I got, it appears to be in the +70ft range, maybe more. I mean this thing is huge!
