WOW, that is a HUGE SPANISH compared to what we catch in NC. Normally about 14 inches to the fork here. Big PENN fan here. Have been fishing them since the early 1980's. The old black and gold PENNS. Now, mainly the new Spinfisher's and Slammers. Right now, Spinfisher's on sale!!

Umm great question yes head shots are good but if you hit the gill plates abit low then the spear can easily rip out, you’ll loose the fish mostly kill it as well. Some times a great meaty shot near the spine is the beast for holding the fish. Hope this helps mate.
