Thank you so much!! Amazing stuff like filming or diving!? Both are expensive hobbies ;) but totally worth it. Keep an eye on the channel, I am buying a super new filming setup and moving to Indonesia, so I should be posting more updates over the next months.

I worked for several dive centers and with marine biologists and even they don't want to touch animals just for fun. There is always a reason.

Thanks for watching. I agree as a general rule for inexperienced divers 'don't touch anything' is a good guideline, but I don't see the issue with a considerate experienced instructor gently stroking a Giant Humphead Wrasse/Potato Cod when they are come to you and are happy to be touched. I can find no reason why this fish would be harmed, but I am very open to hear your several reasons why these creature must not be touched specifically. Is it that you think the video sets a bad example?

The camera is a hand held yes... Good in its day, but very very old now. To get those shots, I needed Light and Motion Bluefin Housing $4k+ at the time.. That lets underwater white balance to get the real colour, and the Fathom 110 Super Wide angle lens another $4k at the time. That gives the cinematic feel to the shots. All of that does not fit on the palm of your hand and is about 7kg dry weight. The colours and the lens make all the difference :)

Same to you

Thanks for watching :) Camera is Sony SR12 with Light and Motion Bluefin Housing and Fathom 110 Degree Wide Angle Lens. Good luck with future diving & filming

Hey! Thanks for watching :) A mixture! I have clips up for sale on Ocean Stock Footage but that just helps fund the hobby! It's doesn't get close to covering costs Being as that camera setup just died (hence the best of video), my next kit will be a broadcast quality professional setup, and will take steps to move more professional :)

Thanks for watching. The Tiger Shark is from Fiji Pacific Harbour :) The other shark feed is indeed Osprey Reef

That is why animals who go the aquaria or other amusement parcs are put in quarantaine. And I really don't want to make the difference between instructors and students. If he is an experienced instructor, that's even worse, he is an example/rolemodel...

Ask yourself: If you dive and sit still on the bottom, which wild animal will come along and pets you?
@SensationDiveVideos11 жыл бұрын
ban all *training* on coral reefs would be most accurate for the analogy. I get you point. The thought crossed my mind about including the shots or not and the pros and cons... But in the end I wanted the video to show a connection with the fish that is possible. It's fair that you disagree, it was a touch choice for all the reasons you are listing as not to include those shots
@onderwaterfoto11 жыл бұрын
Very nice video! But why do people always want to touch the animals? Please don't for several reasons...sigh...

@SensationDiveVideos11 жыл бұрын
One could also say ban all diving on coral reefs because students break coral. Making people fall in love with the underwater world is the best defence we have to save it from the real dangers... Not divers.. Not touching fish. If everyone was a diver and had a moments connection with a fish, the oceans would be in a far better state then they are now. No matter how much coral students damage it is insignificant against the damage from people who dont care about the oceans.
@SensationDiveVideos11 жыл бұрын
I dont agree with that. I have worked on the GBR with marie biologists giving snorkelling tours, and they bring up different animals for the groups to handle. Experienced and trained people can handle animals. On wiki you can can find all the reasons why these animals are endangered & being touched by divers is not listed. I chose the shot specifically because it show a beautiful connection between diver and fish & why we should care about preserving them. Fisherman kill fish, not divers
@onderwaterfoto11 жыл бұрын
I understand your arguments but I have seen to much people handling animals after they saw an instructor do it. If a trained biologist handles an animal and picks it up, it is normal that people who don't have the skills will do that if they are somewhere else. That is why all the big diving organisations are telling their students don't. The only reason why the Wrasse and Cod don't mind to be touched is because they have been touched or fed in the past.
