With everyone breaking down, I'm beginning to change my mind about getting a van. I was hoping that the new van would you allow you to take a break on doing repairs. At least you are not alone, freezing during the winter. Wow, you got the transmission in and it runs so good. You also have new tires! So glad that things are fixed. I'm also glad that Mark the paint guy stopped by. He hasn't posted on his channel for quite some time. I was wondering if things were ok. Take care & safe travels.
@BruceVanlifeJunior5 ай бұрын
The difference in this van and my other one is that the repairs on this one will actual make a difference and last on this one , as with the other van it was way to twisted up for any hope of driving straight again 🤷♂️ bolt on repairs just would not cut it for that junker 🤣 this one even with all the issues from start was a much better van then my white one believe it or not😅 And Getting into vanlife is cool and all but it takes a different person to actually live the real vanlife and not the I do this for show vanlife 😉 this is a reality of vanlife , I’ve seen so many people break down on a trip and right there and then the trip ends and they need to run home or send all there “travel funds” and summer on repairs Vanlife is not all sun shine and rainbows as many make it seem This is a part of the real vanlife not many get to experience In the real world most don’t have the funds to just drop it off at a shop and let them fix it so we do it ourselves 💪😎 🙏🥰❤️
@cat3crazy5 ай бұрын
I know how bad the other van was. For only $1000. You don't get the cream of the crop. I wasn't criticize the van, I was just hoping for less repairs. Repairs are a bigger deal for me, than for you. I can't fix anything that goes wrong mechanically so when repairs are needed, I pray I can find a honest repair shop.

I paid 900 for my sienna last summer and moving into it next weekend..I trust it but it is a Toyota. The tranny will need replaced eventually I believe but runs great. It doesn't slip or anything but it does seem to shift a teeny bit hard on the 2nd gear..anyway, it needs wheel stuff. I changed the oil in it myself last weekend for the first time. I tried to replace the rear shocks but now running around with one shock off the back because of a stupid bolt breaking off. It will get fixed next week though. But I will be spending a fortune on the wheel issues, bearings and such. I don't trust it to go west though because of the high miles. I think it would be fine but for how long is what scares me.. however, van life will allow me to save so much to be able to buy a newer bigger rig so I can travel west and North. I have always driven crappy cars so I feel for Bruce always. It's just a part of life for low income people so we have to deal with it in either life. I'd rather not pay rent and be able to afford repairs. But, that's only while I'm working full time. We shall see how it goes when I get to go west..fingers crossed. Lol

If u get a reliable van that’s a bit more then what Bruce is paying for then it will last longer. If u look at chrome from vancity van life he bought his first van 4K lasted forever.

Well that's good to see. That old trans is actually just a 700-R4 with a 4L60 wiring harness and valve body switches that makes it work with the computer. I never liked it much. The newer one you have is the redesigned 4L60e that has a lot of improvements. It's a good trans.

We call it a "fly wheel". Cool video. Man it would be fun being around all y'all if I'm doing van life. Too bad I'm down in the U.S. lived in my car for a total of a year and I get the struggles. I didn't have anyone but me and it's soooo cool that u have your circle of buddies there.
@BruceVanlifeJunior5 ай бұрын
A flywheel is for a manual vehicle A flex plate is what automatic transmissions use Flywheel rides on a Clutch Flex plate bolts to a torque converter 😉 And thank you it’s never a dull moment in vanlife 😅🤙
@brooklyn_autumn5 ай бұрын
@BruceVanlifeJunior not here in the u.s. Google "flywheel for 2000 Chevy Silverado" for the u.s. if you're able and watch what comes up. Every store and site lists them as an automatic transmission flywheel. Maybe it's just how we do it here - who knows, but I've never heard anyone here call it a flex plate. All we think of is a plate that flexes. Lol.

@christinamann36405 ай бұрын
I think the key is to avoid the roads that have people living on them, or businesses that are close. Sometimes it’s a matter of people too busy with their own lives to notice the shenanigans that aren’t right there, though there’s always a chance.
