Dude, I almost choked on my quesadilla when you put up the article about "Snowpocalypse"!!! The little rural Oregon town I live in had more like 2 feet a few years back, literally trapping people inside. I think I'll be ale to handle Atlanta's winters!! hahaha
@cflash2785
@cflash2785 3 жыл бұрын
It's not the winter weather that's hard in and around Atlanta, it's the residents perceptions because they don't see it often and don't know what to do. People here freak out when they see flurries or rain for that matter. Cars slow and they clog EVERY roadway bringing roadways to near halts. That is the problem.

I'll add a con. I was down there for 4 days in July 2021 and I absolutely fell in love with Atlanta but the roads. OMFG. The roads would be a potential deal breaker for any plans to move there. Our roads aren't great in Hot Springs (Arkansas) either but at least we've never had it break a wheel bearing like we did there. The snowpocalypse you guys had was seriously only 2 inches? We average 6" a year and in February 2021 we got 24" (2ft) in 6 days (and lows at or below 0). The humidity? I feel your pain. The humidity is horrible here too

@janetowens7288
@janetowens7288 2 жыл бұрын
I believe the bridge is in cobb County, a northern suburb of Atlanta. I have lived in Atlanta since the sixties. It used to be such a cool place to live. It was like an oasis in the state. Pretty liberal minded in spite of being in Georgia. Of course it did not have all the entertainment options like now but the population of the metro area was about half what it was now. You could see the Allman Brothers band play for free in Piedmont Park, see the ballet or David bowie at the fox theater or prowl around underground Atlanta before it became a tourist trap. Imho the demise of Atlanta from a fun and easy big little city was around the mid seventies. Pershing point was demolished and glass office towers went up. That was the beginning of the end. Btw Pershing point was a triangular piece of land where peactree street and west peachtree met. It had a couple of old apartment bldg with shops and restaurants on the ground floor. Very quaint and eclectic area. All of these reminders of old Atlanta were crushed by developers and the building boom was on. If you are of a certain age just coming to town I'm sure you would love the modern version. However, you would miss so much important stuff that came before. Good luck.

@@bobbybingle1662 I've only been to London once for 1 day and it was on my list to come back last year and spend a few weeks but COVID got in the way of those plans. I am intrigued by Europe in general but specifically London and Lisbon which I've spent more time in Lisbon but want to start spending half the year in the EU to determine if I might want to settle in an EU city in the future. I can just 'see' myself doing it as there are cities there that just seem like they'd be a great fit. For instance, I ditched my car in ATL after spending 5 years in Chicago and returning here to Atlanta and being determined not to drive here this time around; I'm definitely a rare species here deciding to live city life here without a car. But in the EU there are so many cities with great public transport which is a major pro IMO. I know no place is perfect but I love the vibe in places like London and other places where they consider healthcare a right and not a privilege for the wealthy (going off on a tangent now lol). Anyways, so happy for you that it worked out for you and that you enjoy living there!

@lgg7858
@lgg7858 3 жыл бұрын
This video doesn’t help. Atlanta is definitely all hype. Although it offers a good quality of life in comparison to much larger cities like New York or DC in the tri-state area, Atlanta didn’t make the cut. I lived in Atlanta for 10 years he’s taking you through tourist areas and the average person doesn’t live in those areas so it’s not an accurate depiction of what life would be like in Atlanta. Salaries are low, it’s hard to find a decent job unless you’re in healthcare, IT. It’s set up to be an entrepreneurial place but most people are not entrepreneurs. So it would require you getting more than one job in order to stay afloat. There’s a lot more I could say especially pertaining to dating, finding work, and building relationships with People whether it be professional and personal.. but I’ll save that for another time because it’s not as great as you’d think.
@dbclass2969
@dbclass2969 3 жыл бұрын
I disagree. Atlanta is very diverse and job types and salaries. There are many people I know making good money in blue and white collar jobs. Atlanta had the second most number of government jobs outside of DC (due to it being a state capital and home to a number of federal offices like the CDC). Income inequality is an issue but that mostly pertains to those of us natives who were born in poor areas here. I was lucky enough to make it to college due to my circumstances but many aren’t and that creates a divide in the area between the low income and high income people.

Ask yourself why traffic is bad.....it's because everyone lives in the suburbs. Who wants to pay $1500-$2000 in rent to step over crackheads to go to their car they hope is still there or in one piece.
