Hello!!! I love your content!!!!!, My Girlfriend and I are willing to live there for 2 months this summer... what towns or suburban areas (just outside Berlin) would you choose to live in for two months (July and August) if you want a calm, and relaxing place with great transport to the city that gives you both the freedom to be in the natural outdoors and city centre without needing a car? Thanks 😊

U guys seem so sweet! 😻 Is there any restrictions in Berlin when it comes to shopping and restaurants? I’m from Denmark and our government has decided to close down all the restaurants and we have to wear masks in stores 😅
@riachannel65174 жыл бұрын
Hey Nora, thank you! Yeah we pretty much have the same restrictions as you do in Denmark it seems. We have to wear masks on some busy main streets too and restaurants are only take-away. Hoping it does not last too long, I know in London things have opened a bit.

The returned glass bottles are cleaned and reused. So it is even better than recycling. Not so much for the plastic bottles.

The Pfand comes in 3 sizes: 8 cent for most glas bottles, 15 cent for so called "mehrweg" bottles (like the 1L coke bottles, they are made of plastic but are much thicker when the normal ones) and 25 cent for plastic bottles and cans, but the rules are i bit weird and you will often find bottles that dont give pfand the biggest group i can think of are juices but there are many more. One reason for the pfand was the public waste problem in citys because people left them everythere. 🙂
@riachannel65173 жыл бұрын
Ahh so great to have someone clear that up for us. I think it is such a great strategy to help the waste issue- the UK could do with that. Thanks!
@petereggers76033 жыл бұрын
So sweet! The concept of Pfand (deposit, consigne) is: It is charged on top of your purchase, so if returning you get your already spent money back. "easy money" only if you collect bottles that you've found... but that's mostly the business of poor and homeless people to get some income.

Hey Kelly! That is SO exciting that you are moving to Berlin in the future, it is such a cool city and very different from London, yet still manages to give big city vibes (which I love). So at the moment I'm not using Instagram, but my email is in the description and I'll respond there. Sorry!
@panoramanow3 жыл бұрын
Hey Kelly, if you are planning on moving over I strongly recommend the FB groups 'Brits + friends in Germany' and 'Brits in Berlin'. There are some things you need to plan in advance and get your head around like the mandatory health insurance with a German provider that you need to go with once you rgeister here and other boring but vital admin topics... Cheers from Berlin

Hmm, looked on the Web on one of food delivery sites, here in Riga, Latvia McDonald's "Bid Tasty" costs 4,05 Euros, one with bacon is 4,55 Euros, and double Big Tasty with bacon is 5,35, Big Mac - 3,05. Except... do you really consider McDonald's "a food"? I mean, something one would actually choose unless really hungry and with no other options. XD
@riachannel65173 жыл бұрын
haha yes McDonalds really is a last resort in my opinion too!

Please provide a bit insight on social life in Berlin. I heard that Germans are very specific about 'NO-NOISE' policy between 10 PM to 6 AM. How much of this is true? And how much of this can be compromised for people who are night owls or like to go bit crazy during night?
@riachannel65173 жыл бұрын
Hey! Well the whole time I was living in Berlin, it was very much a different experience to a regular one (pre-covid). So most friends were not worried about the 'no-noise' policy, but about getting caught breaking the tight covid measures. I know that a lot of my friends did host many house parties before things changed though. They all got noise complaints, but it depends on the neighbours how severe the consequences are. People generally understand if you're living in a young, vibrant area, it is to be expected. Hope that helps :)

@@priyajain6791 You mainly get KZbinrs from the south commenting about this topic. In the north it's much more relaxed. The south is catholic, the north is protestant. When i was younger we had christmas parties on boxing day in our flat with about 100 - 200 people. Yes, neighbours didn't like us, but we never had serious problems partying 'till 4 AM. Police came by and asked to be a "bit more silent" - so we did. But we did go on. Expect this behavior north of the cologne area in larger cities. Don't do this out in the country, you'll get into serious trouble.

I dislike Berlin because it´s too shoddy. Litter everywhere. High crime rate. E. g. your car insurance will be more expensive than say in Munich because tzhe risk of it being stolen is higher. Parts of Berlin feel like a slum.
