I can recall being well informed about CENTRAL SQ. by frequenting it's establishments many times over the years in 1940's -1950'S and 1960's. My brother lived on RIVER ST., my other brother worked at the STOP & SHOP across from the WHITE TOWER Hamburg restaurant and my girlfriend CLAIRE lived off of MAGAZINE ST. Two streets from MASS AVE. In the square was a great ITALIAN restaurant called SIMIONIES that served great food for cheap prices.

Do not do it. Central Square right now is a warzone. I live there, and the addicts and homeless are out of control. Not going to make anything political, but it’s bad. Watching people fill up bags in stores and walk out, hearing people screaming and shouting at all hours about drugs or money, daily physical issues, etc. The cops are patrolling, but they can’t be in every nook and cranny. I’ve lived here all my life, and have watched most of the retail businesses depart, and the actual people go. Even the businesses that are here now will probably leave eventually. When addicts enter a Chipotle and just start yelling and slamming their fists on the counter demanding free food, or when the Goodwill has to put one shoe of every pair behind the counter to stop thievery, you know things are bad.

I live up in Rowley now but I grew up in Central Square. Lived on Brookline Street. I remember Hi-Fi Pizza across from The Middle East, Charlie's Tap on Green Street, and Toscanini's Ice Cream. Is Mary Chung's still there?

@@josebro352 Sorry, been gone for years now, over a decade. My father used to love that place, but it closed down. So did Hi Fi, there’s a Clover there now.

@@7466ypb As far from a city as you can get and are willing to live. Central Square has a corner where free food is given daily, so it has become a congregating point where the homeless and addicts just chill all day. Now that wouldn’t be so bad, but many are aggressive and a nuisance. However, Boston is no better, and frankly, most cities aren’t. That’s why I’d go farther out, if I drove or had a different job.

Yeah. Go ahead. Live in Riverside. With the thugs, drugs, terrorists, and nightmares. I’m a Harvard grad. And I lived in Central Scare. Good luck getting out, alive. PS Nobody talks about MIT, because no one at MIT knows how to talk.
