Fairhope downtown near Another Broken Egg, That one block reminds me a bit of the tourist towns in Colorado. The pretty colors on the buildings, flowers, and overall look is kinda like Breckenridge or Estes Park Colorado. (Without the mountains of course) The park by the Fountain on the bay is beautiful.

We, me and the wife, have visited Fairhope this April. It was our favorite place out of all we visited during our Miami-Austin road trip! Can confirm, people are super friendly!

How about alligators in Fairhope? If someone buys a property with a little pond or near a water way, what is the likelihood of finding a gator in your pool?
@LivingInLowerAlabama2 ай бұрын
If you look in the waterway or pond, I'd say its pretty likely to spot one but your pool not so much. We're not like Florida where you see gators all venturing all over the place but every once in awhile we might see one out of place.

They do have Hurricanes that hit the coast. High winds and heavy rain. What realestate people fail to tell you is that homeowners insurance and flood insurance rates are extremely high and you definitely need both, if you can even get it. A lost of insurance companies are not issuing policies along the coast and, if you can get, it you have to be very wealthy to afford it. We lived there and we were looking to build there until we found out about the cost of insurance, after getting quotes from several insurance providers for both flood and homeowners, we found the cost, if you can get insurance was out of sight high. That and the risk of companies dropping you after you build is very high in that area. Ask your agent but they will back off and assure you that there is no problem with insurance rates or availability.

You're right! Hurricanes and flood insurance are important considerations when living in Alabama, especially near the coast... That's why many homes here are built to Gold Fortified standards, which can lower insurance costs and provide added protection. Plus, areas prone to flooding are clearly marked, so buyers can make informed decisions. It's all about knowing the risks and preparing wisely..just like living in areas with snow, earthquakes, or wildfires. Every region has its challenges, but we love the lifestyle here! That said, if you bought here without understanding hurricanes or flood insurance, it’s likely due to your own lack of research or an agent who didn’t do their job. A good agent ensures clients know exactly what they’re getting into. Transparency and research is key to making informed decisions 😊.

We have the occasional hurricane🌀 roll through and if you don't live in a flood zone, flooding isn't a problem. Check out the FEMA flood zone map: msc.fema.gov/portal/search?AddressQuery=Foley%20alabama#searchresultsanchor
