As a Hawaiʻi resident, knowing that those condos wernt built for the "regular" working class residents is small kine kaumaha. Like that parking lot across Ward theaters used to be a place where us working class residents could get exited to watch one movie for the weekend. Now its just another million dollar condo for one haole malihini to buy. Thereʻs also a strip of local owned stores being demolished here at Keʻeaumoku to make way for another condo that residents no can afford.
@aaronkamakaze2967 Жыл бұрын
More then 80% of the people buying these condos are local. Residents of hawaii. And there's tons of affordable housing units as well. The more condos that are built the more affordable it gets to live in town. That's how supply and demand works.

A few corrections on your video. The building you keep referring to as The Park is actually called Koula. The Park is another high rise that will be built directly across from Koula on the other side of Victoria Ward Park. Construction hasn’t yet started. The building you refer to as The Victoria is called Victoria Place. Its going to be an ultra luxury high rise, not an inexpensive low rise without expansive ocean views.

This new development has completely destroyed the soul and life of the Ward Center/Kakaako...things may be walkable, but where are the people, where is the life?...I can appreciate the positivity because the development cant be stopped, but let's be honest, "different vibe" means feels more like San Diego or San Francisco, i.e., Any-town USA.
@peterparker55452 жыл бұрын
the saddest thing about the ward area is that it's a ghost town.... they built this place for the investors and not really for people that want to live there. I'd say 80% of the owners are from out of state or foreign. Just look at this video alone, how many cars did u see drive by? barely...cause it's a ghost town. If they built a not nice condo (not luxury) and decided to only rent it out, then you would see a ton of people there. A lot of business bought into the idea that this is a growing community and it is.....building wise, but there is literally nobody living there....no locals that's for sure and it's sad to see....such a great area.....the city and county gets paid off for turning the other way when it comes to permitting and not providing affordable housing
