You're almost correct there when you talk about levels of politeness in Japanese. If your example is Arigatou (Thank you), everything you said works. But with Ohayou, the last one (ohayou gozaimashita) does not exist. Also, ~ mashita at the end of a verb usually points to the past. You'll get the hang of it soon! Ganbatte (hang in there)!!
