Met a Pakistani, and a few Indians from Gorakhpur while I was in Khon Kaen, there are 3 Indian restaurants as well.

I'm native to Khon Kaen. I'm afraid you went to the wrong night life area. Khon Kaen is famous for being a nightlife city in Isan. You should have checked it out at Ruenrom Rd., Prachasamran Rd., Baan Non Muang Area (behind KhonKaen University) and also around Kosa Hotel area to enjoy some real nightlife.
