@@benfishermin Ben, how much do you know about USD? Perhaps one of these days when you are back in KL, you can talk about USD. I heard it so many times that the current USD is no longer backed up by the real value of gold, hence, the value of money deteriorated. Some say, the value of current printed money or digital money borrows the actual value from past printed money that was fully backed up by the value of gold. In another word, we are all tricked into paying more for the same or less value goods and services, along with it, the escalating cost of living. What do you think? 😁
@nazli_ss3 күн бұрын
I guess Malaysians personally do not really need tourists to make a living. We do not look at tourists as some kind of opportunity. But as a country, tourists' money is always good for the economy. So, tourists are welcomed, but at the same time, we like to keep our country as it is.

Exactly. Many foreigners aren't aware of that. Hence, always compare us with neighbouring countries. So much so some of these countries use very under-belly tactics to lure tourists. I suggest they go somewhere else if you are after "parties".

As a Malaysian, I completely agree with Ben’s observation about condos in tropical climates. The hot and humid weather means pests like cockroaches, house geckos, small spiders, and ants can show up, even in high-rise buildings. While this isn’t the case everywhere, it’s always good to inspect the property before renting. Pest control is the owner's responsibility, so be sure to clarify this beforehand. I grew up in a small rural kampung (village), so I’m quite used to dealing with these things. At my parents' house, you might still spot snakes or even wild boars wandering through the backyard. When it comes to fruits, Malaysians are definitely spoiled! Our mangoes are much more flavorful, and while our bananas are smaller, they’re much tastier. Mangosteens and rambutans are also fantastic-and if you’re feeling adventurous, give durians a try! That said, be cautious about how sweet our food and drinks can be. Malaysians love their sugar, so if you’re dining out, it’s a good idea to ask for less sugar in your beverages. Alcohol can be expensive here, so if you don’t drink, you’ll save quite a bit. Malaysians may seem a bit shy at first, but we’re incredibly friendly and always willing to help. Don’t hesitate to ask if you need anything! Also, make friends with the locals-you’ll likely be invited to join a celebration during one of our many festive seasons. It’s a wonderful way to experience Malaysian culture and hospitality firsthand.

Malaysia sits in the middle of south east Asia. There’s a bit of everything in Msia. There are scattered Cambodian colonies in peninsular Msia, Thai- Msian Thai speaking Buddhists in the states Kedah and Kelantan, countless numbers of varying sub ethnic groups from Indonesia such as the Javanese, Minangs, Bugis, Banjarese, Malays, Bataks etc…not to mention the Chinese, Indians and the recent Pakistanis, Rohingyas and Bangladeshis. The natives are too used to the different kinds of people for centuries they don’t really care anymore. While there are concerns like any countries have but it has never become a major political issue like in the western countries. While Msia has a bit of everything it’s definitely not as deeply authentic as at the countries of origin. The true authentic Msian experience can be found in the east coast states of the peninsular Msia, secondary towns of the various states in Msia and East Msia.
