Hey Guys. Me and my husband have a house in Olonche that we built. I have seen your car there. We are down there about 4 times a year but plan to move there full time once we sell our business. We will be down at the end of the year and plan to meet up with Mike & Kris. Hopefully we can meet up with you guys too. I absolutely love the coast, so chill. My husband's family is from Guayaquil which is way too crazy. I'll reach out when we know what days we will be in Olon. Thanks Mark

Wow great video. I’m been watching a lot of videos of Olon and the outer areas. You two seem real and down to earth. I will watching more of your videos. Hopefully my next summer I will come down for several months to see if I like it.

Excellent! Will you be traveling to multiple locations or just one in particular?
@HeatherODonnell-l3o23 күн бұрын
@@TravelwithJoshandJess multiple for sure. I live on Vancouver Island Canada, surrounded by Ocean and lakes but I do love my forest trails, hopping to find the same lifestyle as far as living with this in my life. So many options .

Our original "facilitator" who became such an awesome resource gave us a tip about having a 10'er or even a 20 in the car's matricula paperwork when you hand it over. The ones looking for that shakedown take it and move you on and the ones that are not looking for the shakedown just hand it all back to you. He was hilarious he also said to play super dumb and unable to speak to say something crazy like No fumo español... hahahaha Yeah the whole ATM sign on the typical gringo back was something very hard to get used to.

The playing dumb part has gotten us out of one situation now lol! Thankfully, the actual police that do checkpoints are literally just checking paperwork and not wanting your money.

@@TravelwithJoshandJess Oh also when we were going through the matriculation inspection the inspector was a classic no person. Our Toyota Hilux was in perfect order but had added lights for dark rural roads and custom rear bumper with hitch. It had never been in an issue before. Resolution = $20 ... another save the day moment by our same facilitator. The funny thing is that even with these occasional shady shake down situations it seems easier to navigate through the BS in Ecuador than in the States. Or at least that was our overall impression.

Friend, as an Ecuadorian, I can tell you that to deal with traffic police you have to have several techniques, do not act like they do in the United States, arguing, fighting, getting angry with them.
@proyectonuevo748729 күн бұрын
What you have to do is give him the documents, not get angry, take it easy and he will simply understand that he can't do anything else.The best thing you can do is not get angry, just hand over the documents, they will have no choice but to hand you the document again and go on your way, that's all.

So friend just relax, relax, don't be in trouble with anyone, the prisons in Ecuador are not pleasant
