I was recently in Rwanda. My travel pattern was Kingston to Atlanta, Atlanta to Amsterdam and Amsterdam to Kigali. The return leg was Kigali to Nairobi, Nairobi to New York and New York back to Kingston, Jamaica. I enjoyed my time and I was blessed with a rich exchange of experiences.

BEACH, noun The shore of the sea, or of a lake, which is washed by the tide and waves; the strand. It may be sometimes used for the shore of large rivers.

Hi Donna, thanks for the very useful insights that you have provided about Rwanda. I am a Jamaican living overseas and what I miss the most about Jamaica is the wide range of fruits that I grew up eating. How does Rwanda compares to Jamaica with fruits? What is the average daily temperature at the hottest time of year and coolest period? Also as a foreigner, are you able to own property in Rwanda should you wish to remain for an indefinite period or would you have to become a citizen for this purpose? All the best to you and enjoy. Rwanda looks like fantastic place to be and reminds me of Manchester in Jamaica. I'll give you a shout should I be able to visit in the near future.

Hi Donna. Thanks for sharing. would you mind telling us what took you to Rwanda and do you plan to return to Jamaica any time soon? Also how expensive is it to live in Kigali vs living in Kingston? Tell Makeda hi for me.
@DonnaTruly8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I came here for work (to help launch a new university). Return for good? I'm not sure. But I try to visit home annually. Kigali is more expensive than Mobay. Food and housing are certainly more pricy. But I'm not sure about Kingston because I never lived there. I will say hi to Mak :-)

Hi Donnalee!! I've been so curious about Rwanda...tell us about the food and the music and social differences...eg: rites of passage if any, dances, mode of dress, family life.... all that. I'll stay tuned for part 2

What is the name of the song that starts your Video? Second is two questions in one: Why do many Jamaican singers sing a lot about Africa and are there lessons Jamaican can learn from Rwanda vice versa? More 2,3 and 4 (y)
@DonnaTruly8 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for watching. The song is called, "Hello Mama Africa" by Garnet Silk. You can find it here on KZbin. I think most Jamaicans have a good understanding that our ancestors are from Ghana. We also have been politically involved with Zimbabwe, South Africa, etc. from many decades ago so there are some historical connections. Plus, with a lot of our most prominent singers being Rastafari, there's a philosophical understanding of Africa (especially West Africa and Ethiopia) being a homeland.
@DonnaTruly8 жыл бұрын
I think I have to write a whole essay about what Jamaica could learn from Rwanda. But in short, good governance, less tribal politics, and discipline.
