One other advantage that I would add is that St. Augustine is one of the only eastern coastal cities that is protected from hurricanes by a 50 mile sea shelf. For us, that is one of the biggest reasons to choose this area above other coastal communities further south or even into Georgia. Thanks for your great video

My home sweet home, all of my family was active in and during the civil rights movement. My uncle reverend Roscoe Halyard went to get Dr Martin Luther king from the air port and they remained very close Dr. kings whole Stay. Google the history on Saint Augustine civil rights. They will take you last every single one of my family members house, and even my cousins house (Janie Price) where Dr. King stayed at and got shot at. all of these things can be googled. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING video btw!!!!! Keep up the good work. I enjoy.

A con is getting stuck waiting for bridge to come down. Bridge of lions. As a person who grew up in Saint Augustine I wonder how much time I’ve spent waiting for boats to cross for the bridge to come down.*can be frustrating at times.

A man on our carpenter crew was asked why he missed work the day before and he said the bridge was up, lol! The 312 bridge is 2 miles south of The Bridge Of Lions. Just loved living there in the middle 1980's.

How is boating and beaching on that side of Florida? I grew up on the Gulf Coast but never spent much time on the east side of the state, but looking into a move in a couple years and considering the St Augustine area.

To your question, boating on this side of Florida definitely is advantageous you get the breeze from the Atlantic ocean which is a lot better than the gulf side. We have an array of great marinas here and different boating and sailing clubs. Boating & sailing is definitely a way of life here.

A little south is Ormond Beach. Hotels are cheaper, nice beaches as well. St. Augustine just up the coast and Daytona Beach a short drive south. My family and I live in Melrose and often when we go to the beach we stay at Ormond.

I’ve visited twice and each time for a weekend so maybe I don’t know enough. But it feels soo small. Like it seems very nice to think about living there and but like it would be claustrophobic. What’s the closest city people visit when they want more activity or city life? :) it’s really beautiful there.

Thank you so much-watching and for your questions. St Augustine is a small city and the oldest in USA. However it is in St Johns County which is much larger and close to Orlando and Jacksonville. So it’s a perfect city for those like a slower pace but want the city lives within an hour or 45 minutes.

There is a drastic difference in pay here in Florida because the cost of living and taxes are significantly less.
