If you live in St George be prepared to escape the heat in summer for at least short periods by going on day trips nearby to Pine Valley or Cedar City. For nearby over night trips can include Pine Valley camping, Grand Canyon North Rim, Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks or Cedar City area.

What @pegs6571 said! We rarely see snow but the cooler weather can be found within 30 minutes of driving to the mountains or Cedar City. HELL YES it's hot. Incorporating water activities (splash pads, pools, lakes) over those summer months makes it's manageable!

Absolutely!! Day trips and camping are also great in Veyo and Dammeron Valley! A little bit closer to home but still can escape the heat. We personally love doing overnight camping trips to Veyo and utilizing their all natural spring pool . They also have little vacation homes you can rent out!

Actually, a well balanced description of St George. Taylor did not shy away from the major drawback to the area - the summer heat. We have visited many times - have been to 6 Broadway shows at Tuacahn and have gone to Snow Canyon State Park 3X.

Thank you for the feedback!! Not every place is perfect but it is truly a great place for those that want year-round outdoor adventure, right in their backyard. I would love to talk more and hear about your experiences visiting St. George!

@@utahrealestatetay We may retire to St George. We have been to St George about 8X using SGU Airport as a gateway for Zion and Bryce with usually a night in St George to go to Tuacahn. We have visited in all seasons - but the summer is an issue. This year appears to have been brutal as you are still experiencing 100F+ temperatures. Not the norm for the heat to last this long so still brutal. I would not suggest Veyo or Dammeron Valley as a place to escape the heat as it really is not that different from St George. You need to find places with higher elevation than even Veyo or Dammeron Valley. The problem with Pine Valley is it has been discovered. It is a shame because Pine Valley Reservoir recreation area is a rather charming place to escape the heat. We really like Pine Valley when we visited but it was really crowded. We prefer when we visit in summer to go to Tuacahn for a night and spend a night at Bryce. Cedar Breaks is just too high elevation for us. I really felt that extra 2K elevation difference between Bryce and Cedar Breaks. If we do move to St George - one year or so out for us we would either build a house in one of the few remaining lots in Entrada or buy an existing home in Entrada if another newly built home was to come on the market in the time frame I stated above. I do know how to access what homes are on or coming to the market. The homes in Entrada do sometimes have a lag time to sell because of the price. We are very familiar with the homes in Entrada as we have gone to homes for sale and stayed at the Inn at Entrada to experience the community. We like that Entrada is gated, close to Harmons Grocery, Tuacahn, Kayenta Art Village and Xetava, to the church we may attend, Black Desert, that Entrada has an on-site restaurant and is located along the really nice Snow Canyon Parkway. The area is really to us the best place to live if we were to move. In terms of "help" to buy a home or build - we really do not need any. So please do not offer any assistance. I know the builders in Entrada. I have had a real estate licence so am familiar with the home buying and building process. If we have to deal with a realtor - I will negotiate with the sellers agent. Best to you.

@@utahrealestatetay We have been 8X to St George. We visit to go to Tuacahn for a show then either Zion or Bryce. We may retire in a year or so and look to build or purchase a newer home in Entrada Entrada has all that we would desire in a community. We have been to homes for sale in Entrada and stayed at the Inn at Entrada so know the community. We would not need the services of a realtor as I have had a real estate licence and we know the builders in Entrada, The location of the community along Snow Canyon Parkway is ideal for many of the things to do in the area.

I would say overall, we are heavily Republican. However, we do have a lot of people that have moved here from So. Cal over the last few years.
