I have shifted from Delhi to Manali about 3 years back and living in the mountains have taught me so many great things. While I had some amazing time here all this while, I had some hardships too along the way.
So here I am trying to share it with you all! Hope it helps in some way :)

I am hooked to your channel. I am from Himachal and have been living in Delhi for 15 years now and can very relate to lot of things you mentioned. I have had my share of experience when I was in hills and had desire to live city life. Now it's reverse but I know the realities of mountains. So each lifestyle has it's own pros and cons. And finally it's about choice you want to make at a particular time in life. Enjoy your explorations !

That's true.. I'm himachali living in Delhi ncr and in total opposite side of the life as u r in right now hence can relate and agree.. Yet I think it has 3 stages.. First stage is excitement.. When u start living in a place so opposite in nature of the place u have grown, u tend to like it for few days.. Then reality struck. This phase can continue as long as u decide to live there.. But gradually u enter in 3rd phase which kind of coexists with the 2nd stage and that is a confused sort of love towards your 2nd stage. U know its hard but u get institutionalized. U kind of starts having a twisted affair with it. U don't like it yet you decide to continue.. This is what is happening with me here.

living in mountains and with mountains is entirely different. Nature is full of medicines and lot of work to do arround, very less time before winters, celebration period for 3 months in winters. We need to collectively make life easy which has been jumbled and messed up already. Development is Leading to destruction.

I spent 10 days in Sonamarg (which I always consider most beautiful place in India) in March end & another 10 days in other part of Kashmir & realized travelling & trekking is different than living in subzero temp permanently. Regular trekkers always think they can be regular inhabitant but I realize now, beauty surround you on 5th day will look like a curse. On 7th day, one will crave for some heat & warm water and will run away to city! I value my Bangalore life & learned important lesson "Everyone thinks of other's life to be better." Talking to some of the locals & army personals in Ladakh during winter, hardship and frustration is greatly highlighted. Lots of questions are being asked which literally translate, "why do you come here? Idhar aake kya mil jata hai?" I love to travel but living somewhere else (beach or jungle area) vs Himalayas is so different experience esp in winter. So far, not a single Himachali/Uttarakhand/Sikkim/Ladakhi/Kashmiri (Kashmiris carry Kangri in Feran which make them more comfortable against cold) avg villager I found, that says "Living in mountains is fun." whenever discussion opens up.. All want to move to cities and reasons are pretty & too simple. Daily Hardships!
