Good luck bro…DC is on my list for possible next spot in the future. Living in the Northeast get used to mid May to early June for that warmer weather. Weekend trips during that gloomy weather will help.

Yea, I think I might need to travel like twice a month to warmer destinations.

Appreciate the perspective. Thinking of relocating out there within the next few months (from Florida). So I definitely feel you on the weather aspect and adjusting to that. Thanks again!

Make sure you buy you a good coat. Also be open minded to being around a community that is used to staying inside most of the year.

@@Canoncoreystaying inside most of the year I'm DC??? Why??? The weather is not that bad at all... Try living in the north east where it's cold 9 months out of the year where it regularly has feet of snow with ZERO degree weather... I'll take 70 degree April any day

Looking to move to DMV area. Live in Tampa Florida, love the weather but lost my complex due to a storm and not sure I want to stay with threat of storms, rising cost of insurance, etc. DC seems lovely and has so much to offer people. But the cold would be hard after living south. But I lived in Philly and NYC, so I think I would adjust.

If you've already lived in Philly and NYC then you will do fine in DC. The social aspect isn't that great here but the jobs are unbeatable.

It’s not just you I’m 18 years old and already wanna move away from the dmv area it def gets depressing and boring at one point. CA or TX is my goal to move too.
@Canoncorey
@Canoncorey Ай бұрын
If you have to pick between those two I'd recommend TX. Cali is ridiculously over priced and the personalities you run into out their are just are ridiculous. Most of my Cali friends have left to go live in TX.

I moved back to DC last November after being gone for 4 years. This city is rough as it’s so transient. I’m trying to meet new people and find things to do but it’s an uphill battle. Most of my friends from years ago have left the city so I’m literally starting from scratch meeting people. Most Meetup events are meh.

DC is a good place to jumpstart your career, but I am feeling you I understand. If you are into history and culture DC has the Smithsonian Museums. I hope you can check it out!!

I grew up there, but no longer live there. It is still one of my favorite places in the world for living (well, Bethesda/Chevy Chase/Friendship Heights, though the near MD parts of DC would be too), but it has changed a LOT since when I grew up (who else can remember when Bethesda was mostly industrial in the places where it wasn't residential? Anybody else remember the concrete factory?). The changes have sadly made it like a lot of the best places in the US - it is an amazing place to live...if you are extremely wealthy.

I haven't been around long enough to see any changes here. I just moved here back in Dec. But I lived in the DMV for a year back when I first joined the military. That experience was very depressing. I was hopinh now that it's been about 10 years that maybe things have changed for the better. Only time will tell since now this is my new home.

@Canoncorey For what it's worth, I feel really lucky to have lived in Bethesda from when I was born until I went to grad school. My dad has lived there for almost 70 years. The people there these days are kind of...douchey, but like anywhere, nothing is true about all people. There are lots of groups for people with different hobbies there. Might be a good place to start. I feel like anymore it's hard to make friends because people just don't do as much outside their homes as they used to, but hobby oriented clubs are a good way to make friends still. It looks like you're into trying good restaurats, there are even dining social groups in DC. The weather being dreary won't bother you as much once you adapt your wardrobe. It rains 1/3 of the time, but rain doesn't change your day if 1/3 of your closet is rain focused. My other bit of advice is don't refuse to be a tourist. The zoo is free, the best museums in the country all free, there is a lot there that only the tourists do, but it's actually a big part of what I love there. Even Glenn Echo Park is worth visiting.

I am from Washington DC and I currently live in Maryland but I have also lived in Dallas, Texas and I have to say although I'm a Washingtonian compared to Dallas, TX . Dallas, TX has a different flavor. More relaxing, More laid back and fresher air. I have also lived in the Midwest and Los Angeles, CA They were laid back that's the big difference and more stuff to do not just restaurants and museums. Especially Los Angeles and Dallas it had more personality it wasn't just hussle and bussle. Washington DC is more about status and money not to say Los Angeles and Dallas weren't but they had more of a personality with those ambitions it was just different especially Los Angeles,CA.

Damn bro u made another part wait till November when it’s dark and cold at 4pm. From what I seen so far in houston you guys would not be use to that after the day light saving change. And yes brother it’s cold outside north east people think it’s not cold when it’s 50 degrees. Stay strong 💪

@@jamesbyrne9312 It's really hard to make friends here. I'm from California (SF) and its so easy to connect (make friendships) with people on the west coast. IDK, its just the vibe out here.
