My wife and I, from Northern California, came to Williston this past summer to visit Theodore Rosevelt National Park. Williston is a very nice little town and a great place to start when heading to the National Park. I was very impressed with your new airport located about 11 miles outside of town. Although small, the new Williston airport is first class. Travelers should be warned that taxi and ridesharing services can be hit or miss in Williston, especially at night. People in North Dakota were very friendly and treated us very well.

This is mostly accurate. Most people move to Williston for the $$$. EVERYONE, regardless of what industry you are actually in, is in the oil and gas business. That said - is there anywhere in America where good paying jobs can be found that cost of living isn’t also high?

The problem with North Dakota is the right to work law. My wife was forced out of her job 11 days after our two year old son was diagnosed with cancer. The Williston Basin School District HR Judith B is the one who did it. School District didn't want the insurance hit. Disgusting! Also there is no BBB in North Dakota. There is a wells fargo atm but no bank branch. There is no Chase bank branch. The local government is super corrupt. Example, the mayor bought land from the city then sold it back to the city to build a school. A plus is no gangs, no traffic, new airport. We bought back in 2015 and our value has doubled.

HOAs tend to keep property values higher for the long run by fording owners to maintain their properties to a certain minimum level. Unless it’s a super high end custom home - nearly all new construction in America is governed by HOAs.

@@yeseniahernandez7573 Child care workers are making around $13 an hour, which is below the livable wage of $16 an hour, for a single person in ND. CNA's are starting at livable wage ($16)......nurses are the only ones making any money, starting at $22 an hour. Most women aren't able to survive up here, without a man's income to survive on, unless you're a lawyer or a doctor. The mindset is extremely old fashioned, so you will be expected to work 40 hours a week at a job that pays less than livable wage, and STILL do all the housework, grocery shopping, child rearing, cooking, etc, while your husband goes to the bar. ND is NOT a female friendly state---they are stuck in the 1950's here, except it's worse--the women have to work 40 hours outside the home now. A lot of women can't survive here without a man's income, unless you WANT to work on the rigs or doing industrial work. ND is not a female friendly state. You will be expected to work 40 hours a week, making maybe a livable wage, and STILL be expected to do all the housework, child rearing, cooking, etc, while your husband is at the bar.
