Join us as we explore four of Yakima's most beautiful and unique parks! Each park offers its own charm and amenities, making them perfect destinations for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking to enjoy the great outdoors.
1. Gilbert Park
Located on Lincoln, Gilbert Park is a large grassy area that once housed an art warehouse. Now, it’s a popular spot for dog meetups and picnics with ample parking and a fascinating labyrinth. Surrounded by friendly neighborhoods, it's a great place to meet friends and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
2. Franklin Park
Home to a summer concert series, brand new pickleball courts, and the last outdoor pool with a water slide in Yakima, Franklin Park is a community hub. Located between Tieton Drive and Chestnut, near Franklin Middle School, it boasts amenities like tennis courts, picnic shelters, and a rotary pavilion. Don’t miss the ice cream shop for a sweet treat!
3. Randall Park
Situated off South 48th Avenue, Randall Park spans five acres, including a 1.6-acre dog park. It features green spaces, a playground, small ponds for feeding ducks and geese, basketball courts, and a disc golf course. A creek runs through the park, adding to its natural beauty. Recent renovations have made this park a prime spot for all ages.
4. Chesterley Park
Found on North 40th Avenue, Chesterley Park is known for its soccer fields, skate park, and proximity to the YMCA. Originally filled with Mount St. Helens ash, it now includes modern amenities like restrooms, a storage building, and a picnic shelter. With easy access to Highway 12, it’s a convenient location for sports tournaments and family outings.
5. Miller Park
Located between Third and Fourth Street off E Street, Miller Park underwent a $700,000 revamp in 2023. It now features a covered picnic area, performance platform, new basketball courts, and a splash pad for kids. With beautiful mosaic art and plenty of lighting, it’s perfect for evening gatherings and summer fun.
Enjoy this quick tour of Yakima’s best parks, each offering unique experiences from downtown to the west side.
