In this Living Loving Maid (She's Just A Woman) guitar lesson video, I will demonstrate how Jimmy Page played this entire song note-for-note.
Released in 1969 off their Led Zeppelin II album, it features one of Jimmy Page's most recognizable riffs.
The track was actually recorded with a Vox 12-string guitar so that will explain why some of the guitar riffs sound doubled an octave higher. But it sounds just fine with a standard 6 string guitar as well.
I start the lesson out showing you how to play the main riff. This riff is instantly recognizable by virtually every rock music fan. It is also quite fun to play and not very difficult at all to play.
The chords at the end of this riff can be played a couple of different ways. I demonstrate in the lesson how Jimmy Page would have played it and another way that might be easier for most players. Either way, both of the ways to play it contain all of the same notes and sound exactly the same.
The other main rhythm section contains a doubled guitar part. I will demonstrate how to play both parts for completeness sake. :)
After that I will break down Jimmy Page's short but sweet guitar solo note-for-note. The is one of Jimmy Page's most singable solos and a great solo to learn for the upper beginner level guitarist.
Most of the solo is very laid back and repeats itself with two different endings. It will literally take just a few minutes for most guitarists to master it. And just like the main riff, it is very fun to play as well.
Have fun with this simple classic from the great Led Zeppelin!
Carl...

I second that! I start about a year ago, have practices ~1k hours and this man has been a massive part of it. My playing went from instruments of torture to instruments of music.

@@saintgabbana187 In the year from when I posted this to right now, there’s over 1000 more hours. I work at a busy law firm, 85-90 hours in 2 weeks is normal. It’s time management, discipline, and passion. - I play 2 hours+ Mon-Fri - Saturday, I’ll play for most of the day. - Sundays, my parents have family dinner, and I’ll play for about 5 hours over there. - There’s ALWAYS a guitar next to me when I’m at home. No one cares if you’re not good. You PLAY the instrument, it’s a toy, have fun with it 😊

The bridge is in half time, and Page uses his thumb a lot on the E string, such as seen on "For Your Life." I believe that Jimmy named this his least favorite Zep song, but still seems fun to play. Thanks for the lesson.

Hey thanks a lot for this lesson. I really love Led Zeppelin and even though its kind of repetitive and in a certain way easy it is a great music. And you are a "Great Teacher". I mean it. Thanks again.

Thanks Carl for sharing your talents with this community. Greatly appreciated! You always have your tone nailed down for each demo regardless of the guitar you are using. Do you have a video or series of videos explaining how you attain your tone? I am subscribed and checked your site but could not find anything. Thanks again!

Thanks Carl...Awesome as usual! So you think you could add an element to your videos. I've been playing guitar for about a year and a1/2, but only recently bought an electric and an amp. That said, you explain the guitar very well, but a "short clip" or explanation of settings of the amp would be awesome to help me with that aspect. Thanks again!

The song is great! And great lesson. Ppl say this is sexist because it's about a woman on the hypergamy fueled cock carousel. Accountability is kryptonite to the women that complain about it. Oh the guilt😂
