Living on £1 for a day at Morrisons!

We have reached the "chocolate sandwiches" portion of this experiment. As someone who, as a kid, had butter & sugar sandwiches from my grandfather for lunches sometimes, I approve!

Bread and butter pudding is essentially a bread type base in a custard with additions of whatever you want. You do need the egg to bind the custard and the sweetener/sugar for flavour. The bread can be bread, croissants, brioche or anything similar. Additions can be fresh or dried fruit, jam, chocolate, marmalade, nuts etc. Yours looked pretty good without any egg though. Well done :)

Back in the 90s when I had no money at all, I'd hang around the car park until someone didn't return a trolley, take it back use the £1 to feed myself for the day. Back then there was a price war on bread and beans for they were pence each. I could get a loaf of bread, beans, margarine and either sausages or doughnuts for under £1.

As far as I remember Bread & Butter pudding is supposed to have a crispy outside crust and then wet and moist in the center so I think you did it right!

Good idea with the bread for pasta I actually thought you were going to save the crust you cut off choc toastie and make croutons with the crust for on top of pasta but the bowl bread was good and the home grown herbs was nice touch but you couldn’t eat this everyday it’s too much crabs that make you hungry an hour or two later

As a kid in growing up in the UK sugar sarnies were a great treat. Fry’s used to manufacture a chocolate spread which was very yummy. As for choccy B,n,B pudding, no thanks just make mine rum and raisin. Wonderful memories.
