Greetings from Switzerland Liked the video, thanks for sharing. True, you won't get far with 1$ here, but you found the perfect product line for this experiment. almost all M-Budget stuff is good quality at an affordable price. That being said, the average cost for 1 months worth of food alone for 1 Person is about 3 - 600 CHF (3 if you never eat convenience/fast food and are hunting for sales). So in Dollar, that'd be 333 - 666 $. Average monthly salary is 6.6k CHF last i checked but part of that is because we have many jobs in tech that pay pretty well. I myself work in a hotel and i'm making 3.5k / month. We may be a rich country but our cost of living is nothing to sneeze at O.o

I LOVE the $1 hotel room/apartment in Lebanon! That would be $30 a month! What town was that in? I think there's more than 1 Michael Tellinger style One Small Town village being built in Lebanon right now. That could ensure a 1st class place to stay while building a dream house or 2, provided it's not too far from the mountain retreats they're building right now. Also, can one's American bank acct can be accessed nearby (maybe Israel?) to get money out and exchange it to what? & THEN to a lot of Lebanese dollars or what? Where does one ask to go to exchange US dollars to Lebanese, & to get $ from their bank acct? Oh, I know, I'll ask the travel agency in Lebanon! Thanks for GREAT videos about places to live well inexpensively around the world! 😄👍
@raficballan3963 Жыл бұрын
thats not 1$ for the night because on the internet it says 50000 Lebanese lira but its on the official rate so 1500 for 1$ its 30$ for a night and not 1$ a night

Israeli bank? Are you crazy lol. If they find out they will make sure you get deported
@videosfromelsewhere926 Жыл бұрын
@@raficballan3963 I was thinking the same thing, it's not possible to get the cash exchange rate when paying by credit card. Also the hotel operator probably is having the card processor deposit into a foreign account anyway, so the reality is that it's about $30 a night. Which is normal for many hotels in the region. Turkish beach resorts are about the same price.

The quality for what you pay in Italy is second to none. And youre in one of the most beautiful and culturally enriching countries in Europe. I was expecting to be ripped off when I went (twice and now currently living here) but even the touristy cities like Rome and Florence, everything was so affordable and so much better and fresher than the food back home. And yeah, the housing/rent is insanely affordable. Im staying in a top floor apartment right in the heart of this beautiful town in the north, on a river, and its $800 euros/mo vs my Canadian city where living in the best location downtown is well over $2500/mo But the quality man...$3 euros for some of the best wines in the world, $3 euros for the best Austrian, German, or Italian beer in the here in the north...and everything comes with appes/snacks. The "aperitivo" culture is the best. At my local wine bar where half the menu is $3.50 for a glass of either the best Prosecco in the world or amazing reds (or around $20 euros for a bottle), you even get amazing local cheeses and meats for free as well as tasty nuts etc which you can grab at anytime

So there IS a slight catch with the Homes for a dollar. A lot of them are VERY old houses. As seen in the video about 2-300 years old. The catch is, they are not restored, and as such they weren't selling. You have to do it yourself, while keeping the aesthetic of the original. (by historical standards) So while you own it yourself, you still have to spend a decent amount to properly restore the home.
