We bought a #houseboat to live in the English #countryside.
Yes, there are many reasons why we sold our house in #England, but being surrounded by #nature and living more #selfsufficient truly was the deepest and strongest reason.
Join us in this week's episode as we settle into a wonderful #canalboat #community at Honeystreet, make our #tinyhome feel more like us, AND explore the delights of the #Wiltshire countryside.
Subscribe to our KZbin channel and be sure to click THE BELL ICON to be notified of next week's adventure: / @ulaandjosh
If you enjoyed the videos and would like to support our channel to keep us floating along, you can buy us both a coffee here:

Enjoy!

This channel is just what I needed at the moment. You two seem to have a lovely connection. I love the way you are so engaged in each other and speak so kindly to each other. Even with the stress of leaky showers and sinks and settling into a new environment you are just so zen. Thank you for sharing your journey with us ❤

Beautiful landscapes! About the potatoes (or sweet potatoes too) I poke them with a fork, smear them with oil and double wrap them in aluminum foil then put them on the coals for about 45 minutes. If your potatoes are small them maybe 30 minutes. Keep trying cause they come out delicious.

Usually do my potatoes in the stove…I scrape the briquettes over to one side and rest the potato’s on the rocker bars….leave them in for just over 1 Hour….cooked to perfection
@UlaandJosh

Nice one Michael!! Do you wrap them in foil?
@michaelhibbert4393
@michaelhibbert4393 Жыл бұрын
@@UlaandJosh yes I actually double wrap them….if your careful you can use the foil twice before throwing it away….I’m talking about a potato just a bit smaller than your fist…1 hour anything bigger takes 10 to 15 minutes longer….I’ve also put chicken Breast in the ash pan double wrapped in foil…(empty ash pan first though) but you have to be careful with the grease seeping …and bits of ash falling through onto the top of the foil…bit messy but it did cook it….

My husband and I are enjoying your videos and look forward to them every Sunday xxx Don’t want to be negative but we do run a farm and would be horrified to find a walker climbing over our fences, very dangerous and if you broke them livestock could escape and it’s not fair on the farmer who would have to fix it ultimately please stick to the footpaths ❤❤❤
@UlaandJosh

Hiya Anne, so pleased to read you are both enjoying the videos. Unfortunately the walk around the Alton barnes white horse was not very well sign posted so we ended up getting rather lost and not sure where was and was not a pathway. It is such a shame that land owners do not make it more easy for walkers to access British lands. Even a turnstile here and there would be very helpful. Did you know that 92% of lands in the U.K. are privatised making it near impossible for the majority of Britons to access their own landscape.
@anneclarke2808
@anneclarke2808 Жыл бұрын
@@UlaandJosh Landowners do have to provide safe access to walkers on public footpaths but are not going to encourage walkers' open access to their land for many reasons.

I'm so enjoying being a part of your journey!! Thank you for inviting us 🥰 Your early morning piece showing the mist as the sun climbed into the sky smacked me upside my dopamine reward centre!...this is going to be my life at some point in the not too distant. Its taken me a minute but I've gone from living a life based on what I thought of myself, to soon to be living one based on what I truly want and deserve to have. Its been a journey of contrasts but boy, the lows sure do give the highs even more value! Thank you for a truly beautiful vlog. 😍 Hugs, Tracy. Ps....what is that set of hose connectors called....I must have them! 🙏

Hiya Tracy, you hit the nail on the head there! We decided to start living life on our terms instead of what we thought we should be doing based on years on conditioning and backward thinking. Percy doughty can supply stove glass any size made to measure and rope seal kits and black grate polish to keep stove looking good . They also do stove parts and replacement grates and fire bricks cowels and stove pipes . With Jacket potato pile up coals or wood at the back of the stove and cook on the grate or get U shape metal platform made up to sit above coals as a platform to sit the potatoes on its just practice . Kettle on top of the stove saves gas . Also cast iron casserole pots do well left on all day . Looks like you've found your true calling great video .

It’s suddenly occurred to me that watching your vlogs is like those Sunday afternoon walks we used to go on when my kids were little. The stresses of the previous week were blown away as we strolled along a toll path in Hertfordshire. The kids would run ahead and marvel at the colourful boats bobbing about on the river. Each field we came across yielded little nuggets of nature as we trekked to our favourite field where friendly ponies would greet us. Thank you so much for sharing your enchanting adventure with us. Keep well, keep safe, keep smiling. 🌺

Thank you so much for sharing your travels down the canal and the seeing the sites along the way. This is a part of England that I didn't see much of. Except for what I could see from the train from London to Bath. You can cook foil wrapped potatoes in a wood burning stove, but don't put them directly on the flame. Try just one the next time after shoving the wood to one side. I know someone who uses a wood burning stove somewhat like yours in their tiny home and that's how they do potatoes. I've done wrapped potatoes over a charcoal grill. I chop the potatoes into chunks and add a bit of butter and milk and wrap them in heavy foil. I move my charcoal to middle and put the packets of potatoes around the edges then add the cover.
