Reminds me of when I used to enjoy the game.. a simple time.. when driving around without always trying to gain momentum. After 2000+ hours you pretty much know the game inside out and practically nothing ever makes you think 'wow' other than just how badly some people can play. 'including self'. It just becomes a matter of which player loses the match for you.

I have no idea how the competitive ranking system works in Rocket League nor do I know how many of these games they lose in total, but they LOOK good at the game and it makes for very entertaining videos. I'm getting hyped like watching an esport!

Happy to see you are getting into it! The ranks are bronze, silver, platinum, diamond, champion. Each one of those has three levels I think so bronze one, bronze 2, bronze 3. Each have four divisions. So relatively speaking they are still pretty low on the skill level but at their rank if you can consistently hit the ball it will make you so much better than everyone else. That's why trott looks much better than the other guys is because he can just hit the ball. I've been playing the game since it came out and I'm Champion 3 and I still don't get tired of this game.

I think it's because the other two have played without him, but he's only played with them, so his MMR has essentially been boosted by being on their team.

@@ButzPunk its definitely this, i ranked for hoops once years ago and placed in gold and never played again until I played with one of my mates, i had more points than him in most games but we won so many that he ended up in plat 2 and i was still in gold 2 because my rank hadn't reset.

Only wins and loses are important for MMR in RL. It makes sense, the more fancy your MMR system is, the easier it becomes to game the system. Like, no one wants a ball hog who plays selfishly to maximize the number of goals they get over their teammates so they can get higher MMR. They want people to play to win the game. A little hint. Some games, like CSGO, don't directly show your MMR, but only show divisions; this is because they do fancy other stuff and they obfuscate your exact MMR so it's harder to figure out their system to game it. A game like RL, which has divisions but also your MMR numbers are visible (the 'skill rating', which is your MMR fancified so it's a prettier whole number), you can almost guarantee only wins and loses are important; they don't have to obfuscate their MMR numbers, because they're not doing fancy shit that people can take advantage of in-game to maximize their MMR.

Nope, your MMR change is only based on whether you win or lose and the MMR of your opponents, how well you play in the game is irrelevant.
