I was at ucla during my spring break, literally last week. I was staying in my friends dorm and walking up that hill to get to dykstra hall is god awful.
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege5 жыл бұрын
There are a looootttttt of hills and stairs around UCLA, so if you plan on going here you better prepare yourself lol! Even though this is my 3rd quarter my body still aches every time I walk uphill/upstairs. Other than that, I hope you enjoyed your visit.

You are a so kind.My daughter will attend UCLA for a year from this September.I was anxious what everything was like but you have put my mind at ease. She is really looking forward to year there since we live in Tokyo it will be a wild experience for her.
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege5 жыл бұрын
Congratulations to her! I think she will quite like it here. There is actually a huge community of international students at UCLA. My department in particular (linguistics) has a lot of students who come from Japan, and even some who are in an exchange program. I'm sure many other students will be interested to get to know her, and similarly she will get to experience American university.

@@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege Thank you so much.My daughter is also in an exchange program.I hope she gets the opportunity to meet you while she is over there.May I ask you if the campus is safe? Is there a list of dos and don'ts? I am so sorry for troubling. Thanks again.
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege5 жыл бұрын
Hi Anthony, the campus is very safe. UCLA has its own police department that regularly patrols the campus and has the layout memorized. The police department responds to emergency calls within 2 minutes. Other than that, it is situated in Westwood, which borders Bel Air, a very affluent neighborhood in LA. Both are very safe.

Hey hailey I want to live on campus, but also take my car as well. Did u ever hear of parking lots where u pay monthly to leave ur car there? I might have to do that
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! are you asking about parking lots on campus or just near campus?

@@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege I’m supposed to live in Hedrick Summit this year and I want to take my car, but I heard that it’s nearly impossible to get a permit to park ur on campus. Do u know of any places off campus to park ur car?

Hey, are there any timelines to be in the dorm ? Like what if one wants to stay out with their friends for a few nights ..is that allowed ?
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege3 жыл бұрын
Hi Reyansh, there is no curfew in the dorm. You don't have to report to anybody.

Hi! I'm currently in 10th grade and I was wondering if you have some tips for high school students like me who wish to pursue linguistics? Thanks! and you got a new sub
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege5 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thanks for subscribing. Other than obviously taking linguistics if your school offers any classes (which is very rare), I would suggest taking up a foreign language or two and sticking to it. It will help you out a lot later on if you are multilingual. You could also try taking some anthropology and psychology classes as linguistics is closely related to those fields. Good luck!

Hi there, you should speak with a counselor at your school or the admissions department of UCLA to see if they can offer you assistance with this matter.

Hii I’ll probably be doing a July program at UCLA next year, and tips? Pros and cons between Rieber Hall and Saxen suites? (They’re the two they offer for your summer programs) (lmao your summer is winter here)
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege5 жыл бұрын
Hey there Sarah, unfortunately I haven't lived in either of those buildings so I can't really offer any insight about them. You could try looking up reviews of those buildings on KZbin and reaching out to the person who made those video. Good luck with your program!

I would really like to transfer to UCLA in the next couple years for a number of reasons. There's one thing you mentioned that I'm REALLY not liking. The whole not having a car thing. I come from the east coast and I would drive as it's cheaper than flying and I don't have to worry about shipping my stuff. I make payments on the car and I wouldn't want to pay on something I can't use. What's the best way around that?
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege5 жыл бұрын
Hey there, unfortunately there is no way around this. The number of students with cars exceeds the number of parking spots on campus. If you want to live on campus you need to be prepared to accept that you most likely won't be able to bring your car with you. There are many apartments in Westwood that offer parking spots so that may be an option for you, but it is highly unlikely if you want to live on campus.

Hey, you might know the answer to this, I accepted my housing and I am wondering which group of De Neve buildings I'm going to be in. My contract states " De Neve Residence Hall (rooms for up to 3), Deluxe Triple". Does that mean I am going to be in Gardenia Ridge or in one of the De Neve Plaza buildings?
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege5 жыл бұрын
Amanda Beatty I’m not sure but you can contact housing to find out the details of your offer

How did you apply to UCLA as a applied linguistics major? According to the UCLA website that department was disestablished in 2014?
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege5 жыл бұрын
Applied Linguistics used to be an independent department but now the major is housed under the regular Linguistics department.

Hi, I was wondering if you know anything about the appeal process... I really wanted a single (or double worst case) and was placed in a triple in rieber vista... I want to appeal but I am scared that they will place me somewhere other than a single or double plaza
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege5 жыл бұрын
Hi! I'm not too familiar with the process, but what I do know is that it's unlikely for your appeal to be approved unless you have a really good reason (ex: medical concern). It's also unlikely that they would move you from one triple to another. I hope everything works out for you!
