I mean, I agree that we're obliged to will the good of the other as neighbor; even as someone who knows he is, for some reason or other *not quite clear to me*, I am unable to empathize, and may well remain that way forever; but *objective reality* itself doesn't and guess what: shouldn't ever bow to my comprehensions thereof, but impose its designs on me.

There is *another* reason why the theology of the body is heretical, as is every kind of theology with no possible exception: it doesn't cover every single individual, with no possible exception at all, ever. One major heresy in the theology of the body is that we're attracted emotionally; and I can tell you first-hand, I am *NOT* attracted to others emotionally, at all, ever- so thus, all theology is heretical with no possible exception, as you must either accept all or reject all, and I know from my own past that if I yield to one element that I know in my own life to be false, and call it true, *I* myself will be embracing Hell, so thus Heaven wants me to embrace elements of Hell by even *tolerating* lust to be permissible at all, ever- through permitting sexual desire at all, when in reality it must be completely eliminated with no possible exception. Every single individual, bar none, is to be a means to an end; the end in question is the virtuous continuation of the human race, in some way or another; and all those who in any way act against that are really traitors to their species. This planet is a work-colony; nothing more; and paradise is likewise to be out of the picture for us- yet the innocent cannot go to any other destination at all, ever.

Thanks for your comments - lack of emotional attraction and empathy in my marriage have been a source of discouragement. Your conviction helps encourage me on this path as a struggling Catholic revert.

@@bren209 Good to know, then know *this*: love, in its essence, is an election, a "vote" of the will; it has nothing to do whatever with the emotions, though they often do factor into it-they are therefore unnecessary and often a harmful distraction at best.

@@bren209 please don’t listen to what that person had to say. They are sadly very confused. If you are a Catholic revert, good job, keep it up! You’ll find that there are a lot of people taking a lot of nonsense even among Catholics (although I don’t think that person who wrote that comment was Catholic). And may I suggest, KZbin comments from random, very confused people are not a good source to learn about faith. Don’t get discouraged by the weird things that person had to say, they were not speaking from the viewpoint of the Catholic faith. As Catholics we simply don’t think that sexual desire is bad. It was created by God and God doesn’t create trash. Although yes, it’s true that love is a choice not a feeling, emotions play a good an important role too. Of course, emotions can lead us down on wrong paths but they can also lead us to good ones. Emotions are neither good nor bad in themselves. And they can be a wonderful gift. It’s definitely not true that they are evil, such a point of view is simply mistaken and definitely not held by the Catholic Church. If you want good resources on our faith and its teachings, try Bishop Barron or Fr. Mike Schmitz, Fr. Columba or the Sisters of Life, you’ll find all of them on KZbin. God bless!

Lets be honest, he was dead wrong about what attracts people; as I, for one, am most assuredly *not* attracted to sexual value; I'm frankly repulsed by it; so thus, the pope taught falsehood in that regard. Yet, be that as it may; we *are* a species that reproduces sexually; so it does make sense. Yet that function is not to be abused, at all, ever; and any mating act that is barred from making a child automatically is prohibited, and should be, as it is an abuse. I'm talking objective reality as it is, and as he didn't get it right in every single case, bar no possibility of anyone being outside that limit, he taught falsehood; as did the holy spirit teach heresy by teaching something as absolute truth that is not universally true with no possible exception at all, ever.

When you know, you know. I call it my intuition. No formula. There are some occurrences you just can't intellectualized. Please this looks like a Protestant preachy thing.

There's a logical explaination for everything, you just don't know how to explain your intuition. Though I totally understand what you mean, not everyone is capable of that.
