It is. Every time I read it I hope she's going to pack her bags and split and live happily ever after. Never works out that way tho. s

@@Scottmbradfield I must say if I want LOVE from literature I go to certain passages of Faulkner. I think he really put LOVE in some of his books. LOVE is where it's at, so I'm going to reread Anna Karinina next. I am finishing David Copperfield and it's a lovely book. So much LOVE in that book. There was s LOVE in the eye of the beholder in Bovary, and it's a very clinical eye and cynical. Hard Dur. As Frenchies tend to be, especially Parisians. I've never met more adamantine visages in my life and that's saying a lot because the southern women I know in the US are hardboiled. They have to be. They've been fucked over so much. We need more women in positions of power.

Enjoyed the intro to Louise Gluck, always seen her collected edition with the photo of Saturn on it, but never read her . The poetry sounds very direct, almost like prose, like a meditation.

it is....the book with Saturn is her collect books up until 2012....a great great book to have...but if you want to start with short, late collections: Faithful and Virtuous Night. (the book i sent Scott) and her extraordinary final book, Winter Recipes from the Collective...a poet worth having/knowing/reading...and her work is approachable...she won the Nobel the year before she died....one of my mentors and a hero ...bb

Living Poet’s Corner… emerging to replace Dodo’s corner… ?

Nobody can (or would) replace Dodo. Though I sure enjoy a break from her now and then!

Reassuring 😅 I’ve heard that Dodo is a major domo in the planning of the 5,000 🛁 bathtacular 🥳

so happy to see this SB, and i must tell you, that a) I WILL not send you more books hahahah, i understand and if your wife is like my wife, you're probably in hot water with more books (at least i am), b) that i knew you'd love Gluck (pronounced like Glick) because YOUR PROSE is gorgeous, directly and brilliantly metaphoric (you know how much i love The History of Luminous Motion, which not only has the most beautiful title of any novel about california, but has page-after-page of gorgeous, poetic prose), c) Gluck was a mentor and teacher to me and i always recommend her brilliant work because it is so direct and profound and approachable....and d) as Zooey Glass said, poetry is made for the bathtub..........this is such a beautiful show and poetry need NOT be spoken about (i hated the poetry classes, i had in some famous college) but just needs to be read, listened to and shared......THANK YOU for that Scott....and Louise would have been so moved, especially by the poems you chose to read........I am as well.....HAPPY BATHING SB....see you at the 5K Gala!.......bb

Hi Scott. I believe Louise Gluck passed away recently. Secondly, though I really have tried to like her poems, they all sound like bland diary entries to me. But then again, who am I, ha ha.
