Wishing you the best of life. October 2021 my PSA was 17.67--- had a biopsy-- aggressive prostate cancer. Had robotic surgery. Also had my lymph nodes removed. I got out of the hospital two days before thanksgiving. I was doing ok, then about 6 weeks later on jan 1 2022, I was kind of out of it. I would stand up and felt like I might fall. Went to the E/R that evening. Found out I had Sepsis. I had a choice of going to the Twin Cities or Fargo ND. I went to Sanford Hospital in Fargo, as it was a little closer than Minneapolis. Was in the hospital almost a month. I was so sick I wanted to die. The sepsis damaged my kidneys. I had to go on dialysis 3 times a week. The doctors thought I would be on dialysis for life. But after a month and a half, I got better and could go off dialysis. Must have been the prayers. I am doing ok now---but no guarantees. In less than 2 years time---had a knee replacement, cancer and sepsis. But like the song goes from Elton John--I'm still standing!

All the best to you Mark! I was diagnosed with Gleason 4 and told I should have immediate surgery at the VA. After talking with 2 different surgeons, they decided it was too risky to operate considering where the tumor was located. I opted for radiation and hormone treatment. It has been about 4 years now and other than having 4 surgeries on my left knee I'm still going on with my life like I think I should. No one ever mentioned a life expectancy and I didn't ask! There were many other veterans going through the same treatments and so many others with cancer in other areas that I was overwhelmed with the sheer courage that people have and only hope I can show the same. I lost my wife to cancer and also my father-in-law and stepdaughter!

I just found out my Xhusbands stage 4 prostate cancer is back and in his lymph nodes. I just want to give him a hug and tell him it’s going to be ok. 😕 we have a 25 yr old son who is living with him and taking care of his hills and such but I feel so helpless.

Mr. Perry - my primary symptom was urinary urgency, e.g., suddenly GOT TO GO. We monitored and did some bladder tests before my PSA increased significantly from 4 to 6. A biopsy and scans identified the extent of my disease.

With your symptoms and family history the doctor who blew off your first concerns should be sued. You ought to have been diagnosed much sooner. There is so much more understood about this disease today than even ten years ago. (The prostatectomy in your situation seems very strange too.) You’ll have an extra Hail Mary tonight from Indiana.

Hey friend, go to the doctor. It may be something easily treated that may get worse if you ignore it. Even if they do find cancer, the earlier they catch it, the more chance you can be treated and live a long life. If you're brushed off like the person in this video, please get a second opinion.

You are just 45, my friend. What you need is a lot of positivity and proper diagnosis and treatment. It could be just urinary tract infection. You should not avoid seeing a doctor, and imagine problems which may not be there. Do see a doctor, even if for your eight year old!

My heart broke to pieces when I read this, Perla. My husband is in stage 4 PC. Had a prostatectomy in 3-2019 and his cancer metastasized in 2020 and he has had no futher treatments. He is starting to show bone pain, refuses to even talk about it, and I fear his time is short. He is active so far and his appetite is still pretty good. But, I can see him getting worse. I know my time with him is short. I'm so very sorry for your loss. This is a very hard thing to go thru.

In January 2021 I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer and given a 50% chance of living 4 years with little to no chance of making it to 5 years. The urologist told me that no treatment would save me but he put me on hormone deprivation therapy as well as 20 radiation treatments anyway. The hormone treatment was miserable and stripped away my quality of life to the point that I swore I wouldn't do it again. It's taken over a year the get rid of the side effects of that therapy. I live in BC, Canada where the standard of care for this disease is very limited in scope. It's either hormone therapy or nothing at all. Doctors have repeatedly suggested I take advantage of Canada's medical assistance in dying. Other nations offer other cures but I'm not that wealthy so those options are out. I made a choice to go for quality of life over quantity. We are meant to live not just exist and I won't waste a moment trying to prolong my life if it means a mere and miserable existence. I'll use whatever time I have left to live and to love. I'm in the 3rd year of my grave odds and now live with fatigue and severe bone pain that must be treated with strong pain meds. I do my best to take care of myself and try to get the most out of every day and make sure I tell someone that I love them every day.

Had mine removed in March 2022, 2 tests undectactable, it was stage 4 and spread to seminal vesicles, the part that was disturbing is prostate cancer is not as well known as say breast cancer or any other cancer...

I have issues myself and at this point I'm about to yank it all out myself. LOL, all jokes aside. It really is annoying to not be able to urinate properly. I could care less about the other functions of that part at this point in my life. I just want to pee again, dang!

Perhaps we should tread with caution when it comes to supplements. We are all so used to swallowing fistfuls of them on a daily basis, yet they may be wreaking havoc with our health. Surely we have nothing to lose if we cut back on our daily doses (just to see how things go) and perhaps we should even cut back on the copious amounts of olive oil we anoint our foods with. _The Vegetarian Myth_ is worth reading for extra information.
