Lately I have been thinking that traveling, experiences and most of all the constant desire for new ones is a form of endless consumption as well and that minimalism can be applied in this sphere of out lives as well.

I'm very much interested in slowing down my personal life as well, but I've never made it to a Tibetan monastery like this. Looks very peaceful, I can imagine it's easier in a place like this to reflect on one's personal demons and bad habits. Also interesting point that monk made about the importance of studying your soul/inner life in order to practice deep meditation (vs. empty meditation)!

Hey there! Absolutely, it’s a beautiful place. You can fly from Xian to Xiahe. From the airport take a taxi to the main town and go to Nirvana hotel, it’s right next to the monastery. Great place owned by a foreigner, you will get all the info there. Hello there! Anyone can go to Xiahe, gansu province, China. There you will find the labrang monastery. There are many hotels nearby, It is a safe place. Unfortunately, it is forbidden to stay in Labrang but there are many monasteries nearby who accept visitors (In exchange for money or food). Hey I am sorry, I don't know how you can do that, I just went for a couple weeks. If you are Chinese, you can just go and stay as long as you want, but if not you need to research how foreigners do it.

Depends, are you Chinese? If you are, you can go to Xiahe, Labrang monastery. Free admissions to anyone. If you are not Chinese, I am not sure about the Visa or paperwork.
