Thats the magic in the north. We live in four seasons, where each one is different in colours and klimat. All the nature grows up with flowers and fruits. And then in the winter everything is white and silent.

@@kjell-egonstrandh5334 That sounds breathtakingly beautiful! | can only imagine the stark contrast between the seasons. Nigeria has a more consistent tropical climate, but I'm fascinated by your description of Sweden's changing landscapes.

The angle of the sun makes for a beautiful kind of light at the extremes. That's why Sweden, Iceland, Alaska and so on can be so extremely beautiful. It's literally another kind of light.

Sweden is a very long stretched country from north to south. Compared to, for example, Nigeria (which is much larger in surface area), Sweden ”stretches” almost 50% "longer". The Nordic countries are also very far north (actually about the same latitude as Alaska, northern Canada and Siberia in Russia). Hence the reason for the large differences in the length of the day during the year. The climate here in Scandinavia/the Nordics though is quite a bit milder than at the same latitudes in for example North America or east Asia. This is largely due to the influence of the Atlantic Gulf Stream, which transports warm water from the Gulf of Mexico up along the east coast of the USA approximately up to Virginia where it then diverges towards northern Europe. It passes north of Ireland and Scotland and continues along the coast of Norway. It then turns west north of Greenland and then south and instead transports cold water from the polar region down the west coast of Greenland to the east coast of Canada / USA. The place where Jonna lives is actually further north than Anchorage in Alaska 🥶, but has significantly warmer climate. It is not unusual for the temperature in the summer to reach around 30°C both there and even further north in Sweden.

@@hrafnatyr9794 Wow, thank you for the detailed explanation! I had no idea the Gulf Stream played such a significant role in Scandinavia's climate. It's fascinating to learn about the geographical factors that shape our environments.

Yeah, Sweden is very stretched out, it's like if we were to place the map of Sweden so the Southern tip were in Lagos, Nigeria, the very Northern tip of Sweden would be in Southern Algeria! So it's quite a distance from the North to the South, but not that far across from West to East

It’s great to know that Finland shares similar seasonal experiences! June sounds like a wonderful time to visit - maybe someday I'll make it there. I'd love to experience the midnight sun someday.
