Jack’s tiny house design is brilliant! It’s compact and packs a heck of a punch with loads of innovative features. Beyond that though, I love the story of how he built it together with his father and all for budget which blows my mind! We hope you enjoy this episode. Yes - for the size he fit a lot of function in the house. That the bed has even a bit of storage below is crazy. My only concern would be living there longterm - it is not a lot of storage. Though we haven't seen the step pulled out - there might be a lot hiding there. But with maybe a meter more length it should be more spacious and comfortable. My criteria - if I can do Yoga and dance a little it's spacious enough.

It IS so cute. But remember, the camera can also make things so much bigger. I am THRILLED everything is made from reclaimed wood. So amazing. Unfortunately this is cute for a bit but 2 people will lose their minds together in a short time. And the land is AMAZING! But he said it was cold. If this was in an area where you can go on a beach or spend time outside 9 months a year that would be terrific. Being trapped in a closet sized home all year could be challenging, no matter how cute. The heating method alarms me. Such a tiny space. You absolutely want to make sure you have lots of ventilation. But it is a sweet view and lovely work. Unfortunately I had abandoned chicken coops on the property I grew up on that were this size and they were amazing play houses. While this is definitely awesome, I would never be able to imagine longer than a few years, tops, to reside in. And lucky him t have the resources to afford the dream and utilize his talents!

What I took away from this video was the initiative, diligence, learning demonstrated. If this very young lad is approaching life in a 'can do, must do' attitude, he's CONTRIBUTING to not only his own world, but the wider world. His comments regarding the goal of his family's land which is one of stewardship is a fair sight better and more eco minded than rushing off the land, buying a home in the centre of a city and contributing to the problems of civilisation.

Not to put this guy down, he seems really lovely and he's worked very hard. It does seem easy though when you're parents have a huge farm with plenty of space, tools and resources. When he says "some of my friends are still renting", at 21 that's really no shock. Most people, including the middle classes now days will be renting way into their adult life, if not their entire life. It just seems unfortunate that people that may need the oppertunity to build a place for themselves the most, ie. people that have no other option, will find it the hardest because of lack of resources. There are so many people in very difficult financial situations in the UK, I wish we could build tons of these tiny, inexpensive homes for them but of course that would solve the housing problem and cause property prices to drop so the Tories would never do that. They need scarcity to maintain the market. Bleak! Anyway, good luck to the lad. He's built a lovely home.

Beautiful build! I think it’s fair and important to note that beyond using second hand materials, having family with construction businesses and tools is a huge part of that low cost. Even at its small size, this would cost many times more without those advantages. Good on him for utilizing those to his benefit! Love the pullout bed especially.

Exactly! Two things can be true at the same time. I think it’s the title of the video that’s a bit misleading. If you’re coming to really see a tiny house built for that price, you’re about to be disappointed unless you have the factors we’ve mentioned.

No, that's correct way to put that, it cost so much to BUILD it. If you're talking about access, and "external costs" because you can't work with other people, you would add costs on those de-merits. Not the building of it. If you're Amish you can build an even better house for cheaper. You've got no excuse. Either form a collective today or rely on heritage, but cooperation and lack thereof requires it's SEPARATE crediting. What you're saying here is, "I can't just go to retailer and BUY this property, like all the ther cheap stuff my country gains through exploitation" like it's a bundle of bananas.

And family support
@TxHoneyBee
@TxHoneyBee Жыл бұрын
@@wordhappyHazel Right! We cannot understate his family's support. It sounds like he comes from a family of builders. So between his dad who worked on the build (more than the young man did, he admits), his uncle who owns a construction business (likely helped with engineering and design), and the grandfather who own a 'decent size' farm of 100 acres where he can park his tiny for free, he received loads of help and money to build this. His family's main home is a whole villa, even, and so I'm sure he had a nice place to stay and a warm meal while his tiny was being built. It may have cost HIM only 5,000 pounds but a lot of time and money went into the outcome, indeed. I think it's important to differentiate between a self-made build vs. someone who got loads of support. The outcome is no less beautiful, but why not give credit to those who helped him make a dream come true? Also, why not give credit to people who literally built their tiny home with little to no outside help or financing? It makes a huge difference in terms of the story behind the final product, for me personally.
