Living Big In A Tiny House

Living Big In A Tiny House

Жыл бұрын

Amidst ultra-high house prices, it’s great to know there are still achievable ways of getting into your own home and your own land. This brilliant off-grid tiny house, designed for family life, is spacious, functional and has everything this young family needs.
It’s parked up on communal land, which Paula and Boyd have bough a share in, giving them long-term security with their parking spot. Around their tiny house they grow their own vegetable gardens and have even planted a food forest. Beyond the borders of their garden, they have access to hundreds of acres of communal land, for which they have taken responsibility of the conservation program.
Their home is self-sufficient and off the grid, with an impressive solar system and abundant rainwater collection. This, coupled with the gardens means that overhead costs of running the home and feeding the family can remain relatively low.
Between the house and the land, they have been able to construct an incredible family home for only a fraction of the cost of the average, yet in truth, have also got a tremendous amount more than you would get with an ordinary home.
We hope you enjoy the tour of this beautiful tiny home. To follow Paula and Boyd's journey, you can find them on Instagram: / thebohemiannz

Really like the floorplan of this one, with the kitchen centered and the lounge on the end, better than the typical arrangement which is usually the reverse. I feel like a central lounge always suffers a bit from being in the middle of the traffic pattern, but this layout solves that problem nicely, allowing the kitchen to flow smoothly to the outdoors. Well done!

370 seems like an exorbitant amount of money for a tiny house, until you think about the fact that they own the land, the water catchment system, the solar (both of which there’s no ongoing bills for) and the support that they get with everybody else living there. Amazing!

I have never commented on a KZbin video, but I’m concerned about the decking attached to this beautiful tiny house. In most parts of Canada any deck must have fencing/railing if the deck/patio is more than 42 inches above the ground. The patio appeared higher than that to me. Willow would be hurt if she danced off the edge. Even 42” is too high for a little one! Love the channel!!

This house checks a-l-l the boxes...except for one...no wood stove. Coming from a colder climate, I love those😊😉 LOVE the upstairs walkway & the real stairs (no monkeys required). I don't know why other tiny home designers don't use the catwalk idea. (Interesting choice...queen bed for a teeny girl. Think of how much more play space she'd have w/ a smaller bed...) If the designer sells plans, could we have contact info? Hopefully more people will do the community living thing. What a great idea!

Very true! Nothing makes a home cosier than a wood stove! That being said, this region of New Zealand is pretty warm year round and tiny houses are so easy to heat. Most of the time, if I light my wood stove, I end up cooking myself out of the tiny house and need to open up all the windows!

This is one of my favorite tiny house that I’ve seen. I could actually see living in this, but I would have to put storage at least under the beds.

I love the layout of this house - it looks so much bigger than it actually is! Really well-done. The deck is also gorgeous but the one thing that would keep my up at night as a worry-wart mum is the lack of railing. It would probably never be a problem, but all it takes is one moment of not concentrating...
