Living Big In A Tiny House

Living Big In A Tiny House

Күн бұрын

While for some, tiny houses are temporary stepping stones, this young woman’s incredible tiny house on wheels has been built as a dream tiny forever home. Within the walls of this house, owner Helen has absolutely everything she needs and has compromised on nothing.
Support our show: / livingbig
Slightly wider than a normal tiny house, this impressive design has meant that this home has a tremendous amount of functionality within a relatively small footprint. Knowing that she planned on living in the house for the foreseeable future, she really wanted to make sure that she could create a space that would truly work for her.
Read More: www.livingbigi...
The design of this tiny home has also allowed Helen to build in some really unique features, including a lounge / media loft where she can relax at the end of the day, sit back and enjoy a movie. Living in this tiny house is a dream come true for Helen and it’s great to see all her hard work pay off. I hope you enjoy the video tour of this wonderful tiny home.

I agree totally that she made it bigger than the usual tiny house films I have seen. I think by not compromising she certainly got what she wanted and when I saw her 2nd loft area well that certainly nailed it for me. I think this is one of the best designed tiny house I have seen. Though I wonder who built it for her, her dad, a company? It is lovely that her father has such a big piece of land as that would have pushed up the cost. I wish Helen the very best in her superb tiny home.

I too keep looking for the walking or standing space designed in to the upstairs lofts! Why don’t more people do it I wonder. It’s well worth losing a bit of space from the kitchen or bathroom underneath. In a kitchen that couple of feet is usually just cabinets. I can’t imagine crawling In to bed every night. I do love the design of this house. Kitchen on one end bathroom on the other.

Probably one of my favourite homes I have ever seen, tiny or otherwise. The only thing I would change is instead of the upstairs couch I would get a sofa bed for more sleeping space for guests, but I understand she went with the couch as it was a throwaway that she did up - very clever and it's a gorgeous couch. Love her aesthetic too, with the plants and blue hues around and outside the house.

Yeah, I’ve also notice that Fiona. Or in other cases the small home owners have made a long term arrangement with a farm owner. But another argument, and it all depends on where you have to live. Well in my country there is plenty of available bare land with running water for sale and (within reason) affordable. But I’m not talking in the CBD of any city or town. So, if you didn’t have to commute to work each day, what would it take to build yourself a very comfortable home, off grid. On your own land without a mortgage???? In this video, the young woman, who I absolutely love, has the option of saving her savings in very high Auckland rent prices and one day purchase her own bare land and relocating her wide tiny home. She could purchase up north if she hates the cold or purchase in Taumarunui if she loves remoteness and the cold.

Truly, if you're not from here, you really don't understand the attitudes here. I have fairly poor parents, but they always helped me as much as they could, out of sheer kindness and i'm am filled with gratitude for all they sacrificed. @debracisneroshhp2827
@debracisneroshhp2827 5 жыл бұрын
@@taserrr In what capacity are you referring when you say "...not as efficient compared to an apartment complex"? I suppose that would depend on how much sq. footage you are talking about and at what rate of rent you are paying, and what kind of lifestyle you prefer. In an urban setting you may have 500-600 sq. ft. at $2000 per month and over 30 yrs. at that rate(which we all know won't stay at that rate) you would have paid $720,000+ and nothing to call your own! Aside from that, you don't have authority to change much, accept maybe paint but then, you'd have to repaint back to the way it was if you move, otherwise they'd deduct it from your deposit, even though they'd do it anyway after you leave! 😳 And you generally don't have a yard or space for plants or outside entertaining when the weather is nice. And if you want to have a party, well, you have neighbors right on the other side of your wall(s) and/or up or downstairs! And if you or your neighbors have kids, well, there's that 'neighbors' thing again! If you want pets, you are limited to how many and even what species. Most places these days require deposits of $100-$1000 PER pet PLUS pet rent of anywhere between $25-$100, again, PER pet! 👿 You may not have a designated spot to park your car if you have one, either! So, yeah, depending what your lifestyle is! I say, give me the small house on a 1/2 -1+ acre plot, where I can grow some food, have bbq's/parties with as many guests as I can fit on the property(till 3am if I want), have as many pets as I can financially care for(saving them from being euthanized at the shelter), and being far enough away from the neighbors that we can't hear each other fart in the middle of the night, all for about 1/2 -1/3 of the price of renting over the long haul! 😱😎😺

@@alanedark1538 Not sure where you live, but In Australia and New Zealand, being able to own a home your own home for under 150k AUD is pretty much unheard of, even in the outer suburbs and country side. Apartments in decent areas go for upwards of 300-500k to well over 800k-1M which is seriously unachievable. In the US (where I'm assuming you are from correct me if im wrong) the price of housing is much cheaper than in a lot of other Western countries, so the figure Helen said may seem like a lot, when in reality its a pretty decent price tag for her standard of housing. Its quite common these days for people around their 30s to move somewhat back home so they can save to afford to buy themselves something in our ridiculously overpriced market. I know A LOT of people who have done it. You'd probably find that she'll stay with her parents until she's paid off her home and then she will start looking to save and buy land to put her house on!

@Geraldine Fields in the "olden days," children didn't live so far from family. If their property was large enough, children built their homes on the same property. When the parents died, the children inherited the land, and the cycle continued. I think the orthodox Jews keep families together. It's a MYTH that being an adult means leaving home at 18! From what I understand, in orthodox Jewish culture, the man added on to his father's house when he got married. I don't know the specifics, but I'm sure it could be researched! Today, it's to the MARKET'S advantage that families DONT stick together!!! It's part of a systemically induced "ME, MYSELF, AND MINE" mentality, the economic DECLINE of families, and the RISE of HOMELESSNESS!

I believe that it's starting to get like this in California because for one: it's too expensive for our children to afford to live on their own out here! I am Greek and don't believe in kicking my kids out at 18. That's ridiculous. You are setting your kids up for failure.

That bed situation is giving me sweaty palms. Imagine if you sleep and roll to your right. Otherwise, love the video

That’s what I think every time I see a tiny house with a loft bed. I would get up in the middle of the night half-asleep and fall down.

I love this layout. I could see this home on our land and living in it forever. I wish this lovely lady a long and very happy life in her not so tiny home. Leslye
