I just turned 68 and have been going to the u.p. since I was 14. Honeymoon there, sailed and canoeing at big bay light house, snowmobile there, don't know why I've always lived by Cadillac instead of the u.p. I'll be back to watch h.s. football playoffs in their dome this Nov. Loved your video. Peace from Northern Michigan.

Alright Alright Alright, yet again, another most excellent video all around! Congratulations on your 7 year knowing each other anniversary!!! What a beautiful area, have been to the UP a few times and it always seems to get more and more beautiful each time! Thank you for taking us along on another large excursion of your daily adventures! As always, stay safe out there…..

We camp in Marquette every summer and stay in Tourist Park. It is not as quiet and peaceful but it is a bit cheaper and has better access to the beach and town than Rippling River. That said, we plan to stay a few nights at Rippling River or Raging River next year because of the access to the south mountain bike trails (Tourist Park has good access to the north trails). There is also a wonderful rail trail between Marquette and Ishpeming for people looking for a more casual cycling experience

we met at NMU, married, and had a house in the area for awhile. MQT really is its own vibe. For the longest time we fantasized about living there again, but I think we've been far too spoiled by the relatively milder WI winters.... We're hoping to be able to spend more time in the area soon though!

Congrats on 7! My wife and I celebrate 27 years married today and 30 together. :) We just came back from our UP trip the first week of October. Munising, Marquette, Porcupine Mountains and Copper Peak! And Marquette is great! We're a half hour north of Detroit, but the UP is one of our favorite destinations and Marquette is one area we'd move to if we had the chance. Glad you had a good trip! Enjoy the videos!

Presque Isle Park is definitely a great spot to watch a sunrise. Whether you sit on the actual Black Rocks or enjoy moving around and walking, its beautiful. I am sure Sugarloaf Mountain and Hogsback Mountain have great views of sunrises and sunsets too. I just wouldnt want to hike up the mountain when it's dark in early morning or late evening 😁

The Marquette area is not “kind of windy most of the time”, and August in the UP is not an especially buggy month, not anything like May and June.
@johnchomos13429 күн бұрын
The Marquette area has a lot of beautiful waterfalls that you can explore in the future. Dead River Falls is probably the most popular, it's not a single waterfall, but a series of 5-6 all accessible from the same trailhead. There was also a waterfall right across the street from the campground you stayed at, it's about a mile walk on a snowmobile trail/old railroad grade, that's right by the entrance to the Marquette Mountain ski area. It called Morgan Creek Falls, and it's where Morgan Creek flows into the Carp River. It's around a 20 foot drop.
@LivingLargeCamping8 күн бұрын
Thanks for the information, we’ll have to check them out next time!

I’m not sure why so many Michigan State Park campgrounds are the way they are. Squeezed in like sardines, lack of defined camp spaces, utilities seemingly randomly placed and may be shared with several other sites (more than the capacity of the given utility). It’s sad since there’s so much potential due to natural beauty.
