“That’s what women suffer from.. they don’t realize how much skill and value they bring to the table.” I can so relate to this! As a pharmacist you’re told retail will pay you X/hr plus inhumane working conditions (at least at chains). Bh I worked on my emuna and Davened but also walked into the interview confidently, presented my skills and experiences and didn’t sell myself short. I got the exact amount I wanted per hour plus flexibility in my work schedule. People really do view you the way you view yourself!

Great Episode!!! Key takeaways and quotes 1. You have to know your value before you can ask others to recognize it - Understanding your worth is the first step toward confidently requesting fair compensation. 2. Negotiating your salary is not just about the money; it’s about what you bring to the table - Emphasize your contributions and the value you add to the organization. 3. Asking for a raise is advocating for yourself, not just financially but professionally - It’s about standing up for your growth and professional recognition.

My Mother taught me something very early on: if you meet at least 50% of the skillset or experience required for a job, apply for it. Now I'm 57yo and can say that following her advice has served me very well in 40 years of working.

Key takeaways for me: "No, that's what *you* think" was a great reminder that what we expect of the job market and what we have to offer may be very different things. Also, your job is not a chesed. Even if you work for a chesed organization, you being employed there isn't chesed. Stop thinking of it that way. Thank you for another great episode!

"If you work in office, you expect that you will update team member and your boss when you bump into them but when you work remote, there is usually a system in place to update your boss and co workers" that's a very good point and made me think of a way to implement a system of updating the team even if we work in office.

"Everyone is replaceable." I feel this after working 19 years at the same company. I have seen so many people come and go. There have been maybe a handful of people who were missed for a short period of time and the company just marched on. Ask for what you want and have a limit of what you're willing to sacrifice.

“One of the big things we talk about in the soft skills is the non- judgment effective communication” I wanted to get a line where she talks about how important communication is and how that is the key to get you where you want to be. People don’t realize they sometimes have to initiate communication and things don’t happen on their own unless it is communicated. With this change, people will end up being happier at work, and if they cannot get there, it might be time for them to move on to a place where there communication will be effective to what their needs are.

I used to think like this, if you are really worth it, start a business and you will find your real value very quickly. I love working for myself but it isnt 9 to 5.. its more like 5 to 9. But I think its worth it.

I like that she pushed that woman to not settle on a lower salary. She was persistent. I also like the suggestion on making sure our boss and team knows where we are holding, to make sure they know we’re on the same page. Not for perfection, but for clear communication etc.

Because I have just moved to eretz Yisrael I am in the process of looking for a remote job in the bookeeping/administrative field. However, I have varied experience in education, and I have opened and run 3 different successful community gmachs. I am self-motivated, self disciplined, and detail oriented. The thing that resonated with me most is when she said" that women will have 50 out of 52 skills and I don't have 2 of them. How can I apply ? I don't match up." because women ARE perfectionists Because I haven't had to apply for a new position in so many years, when I look at the job descriptions for different positions, I feel that I need to fill 100% of all of the boxes before I would even send a resume. Women do feel that they need to be PERFECT. Thank you so much

- Women are perfectionists...men say good enough, women say it needs to be perfect. - People don’t realize how much they could be asking for-they don’t do their research. - You are so replaceable...so you might as well do what's best for you. - You need to show them the numbers and also show them how much you bring to the table. - When negotiating, don’t demand or come across as confrontational; instead, have a conversation about the value you bring. - The biggest thing is self-perception-how you view yourself is how hiring managers and your boss view you. - It’s easier to switch companies because you’re not dealing with percentage increases, but rather a whole new baseline. - If you do good work and show that good work, you could progress way beyond what you think and what everyone else is telling you.

Whoever names their number first loses the negotiation. You can start off by saying “the job description was pretty clear, I’ve demonstrated that I more than fit what you need. That being said the compensation said only commensurate with experience. Would you please clarify what you meant by that?”
