I appreciated Reb Baruch’s story and perspective but ultimately disappointed in how the important topic was quickly bypassed by a secondary conversation. Something missing from this conversation here is that people are *suffering*, and not because they are disconnected, but because of the unaddressed trauma in the community. The treasure is under the stove, sure, but so is the pain.

Zac your problem was that you expected more. Ive gone to the best Yeshivos and lived in this system all my life. Im still here with wife and 7 children and love Torah Kabbalah psychology philosophy and paychedelics. Rabbi Gartner was not puppeted to this interview to have an authentic conversation, he was used a prop to get a specific result and that is 1. To calm all the people still adhering to the dogma who are unsatosfied but not ready to make the jump 2. To protect the psychologically unstable or unsupported from jumping into an experience that can destabilize them. I grew up in this system, it's never about a real truthful conversation, it's always agenda based I hope I shed some light. Yours truly

Such a heavy, meaningful topic… but I have to go a little shallow on you…. I bought my husband shirts and a suit from Twillory-- by FAR the nicest clothes he’s ever had!! The fit is PERFECT and the clothes look so good on him!! We live in FL so he will TRULY appreciate these clothes during our hot summers!!! Thank you for introducing us to this great company!!!! And of course, continued thanks for bringing us often sensitive content through a Torah lens.

There are two primary factors that psychedelics seem to address and they are healing trauma and providing spiritual experience, and at a certain level of depth these two things are connected interestingly also that many people have suffered trauma from high control dogmatic religious structures and on the flip side that a personal religious experience the type that one can have on psychedelics can heal trauma The interesting conversations around psychedelics can be; 1. What are the potential dangers of psychedelics (more than just an anecdotal story without all the facts) 2. How and why does it work 3. Why is it becoming a cultural phenomenon (Rabbi Gartners theory is a very very narrow part of the full spectrum) 4. What is the process of integrating the experience into daily life through discipline and practice 5. If people from the frum community are flocking there, then what soul searching can we do about our society that maybe causes so many people trauma or to look for alternatives (it's not because they're dissatisfied because that have so much...) 6. Maybe we should interview people that are actually participating and find out what their story is (if we dare) Rabbi Gartner, you found a path that works for you, it excited you as a young adult and you've found respect honor and happiness in your role. That's good for you, other people have other paths, let's start either giving them a voice and hearing their story or at least not presume that what works for you works or even should work for them. It's time for us to all become humble and start truly listening to each other and have real authentic truthful conversations, because will all due respect this interview had a expected scripted outcome and you were chosen by those in "charge" because you are a non threat to the "system" There is alot of amazing literature on psychedelics with really good and relevant content 1. Confrontations with the un conscious by Scott Hill 2. William James varieties of religious experience 3. Carl Jungs Modern man in search of a soul 4. Alduous Huxley doors of perception And much much more And of course Kabbalah and Chasidus

This was very interesting, but there is something cultlike about it as well. Much potential for someone who is manipulative to use a susceptible person.

What does the Rabbi think of the experiences described by Carlos Castaneda? Most people are aversive to FEAR, naturally! Doesn't that term refer to the - ABSENCE of G-D, or Nature? We are supposed to STAY AWAY FROM the harmful and parasitic forces in JUST THE RIGHT WAY, according to the Commandments! Every one of us, wants to connect to The Creator in Him - DIRECTLY - and not through any INTERMEDIARY! Isn't that what G-D also wants?

Water into wine.. the stream from Mt Helicon gives birth to the Muses which beguiles Narcissus into falling in love with his own image. Trapped by a mental construct of your own creation. Exodus 17:6 Moses strikes the rock for water to gush from it,, people worship the rock, instead of undrstanding what is above it. Deuteronomy 10:12-17
