This episode did to me and my wife away more than what our therapist tried in the last 2 years. After watching the full episode we made our commitment even stronger to be there for each other and most important to be there for our kids. I wish that we can contact him for a personal session.

I grew up with yonasen schwartz albums. My father passed away when I was 13 years old in 1998. At that time he gave out his gite besirah album and he has a song of a child that sat by his father sick bed and then the father passed away. That song gave me so much chizuk. I was literally crying every time I listened to that song.

Some divorced parents hate their spouses more than they love their children. It's heartbreaking to watch those children lose so much because of one or both of their parents' hatred towards the other.

What a smart man. I was involved in one shidduch. The mother said no. So, I went directly to the boy and mentioned it to him. When I told him the girl's name he said that it never was mentioned to him and I told him why. I told him that his mother said no. I said it's only one date. If there is no connection then you don't continue. But there is no reason not to go out at least once. They are BH married and have married children.

The shidduch crisis is a symptom of a much larger issue. We have become the most judgemental community, judging people for silly external things that have no meaning and no basis in Torah. Thats causing families to struggle with getting kids into schools/cheder/yeshivas, kids going OTD, and many more issues were facing. The shidduch crisis is also a product of that. Instead of looking how we can make everything assur, lets focus on the basic halachas like loving your fellow jew instea of being oiver on that in the name of mishigasen

Epic. Definitely epic...so much wisdom...I feel that today's society has been influenced in subtle ways (as well as not so subtle) to focus on 'what's good for me?' When we think like that we are not a vessel for a mutual relationship. Even if one doesn't agree with every word it's worth listening to. I think he's an amazing man B"H. Blessings to him and to everyone to find their true spouse and their true path.

Your religion allows divorce (mine Catholicism does not - I got a very very very rare "annulment"). I don't agree divorce is usually worse. My parents were married until they died - 50 years and they really were not happy together . It was so sad for us to see particularly as teenage children. I was not prepared to put my own children through that so we divorced after 20 years and for us it was the best thing.

You didn't understand the chasam soifer! He says that to say hatoiv vihameitiv it has to be considered from hashem, yet since there is only one that you want and you want her to say yes FROM HERSELF , therfore hatoiv vihameotiv isn't the blessing As you want her to say yes Not hashem making her say yes And that's in addition that its how you need to see it from a perspective That's what he adds

Another thing; its ironic how R'Yonason says he went through a bitter divorce yet cauations others against it.Either he should have taken his own advice or accept its easy to saywith hindsight. Third, does he think maybe his doing gigs every night and gallivanting all over the world on the first few years of marriage may have contributed to its demise? How about a few words to the young about priorities? Kids look up to singers in the Jewish world yet many seem to have serious unresolved issues in their personal lives.

So you say you have a mother who won't give out her two daughters to Shidduchim till she gets exactly what she wants, and the same with a father who won't let his daughters out unless the boys are like his first son-in-law. So, is that your Shidduch crisis in a nutshell? A few mental cases? Because if that's all you have, then we're in pretty good shape. Let those few parents work out their own issues while the rest of us go play golf. As far as there being thousands of girls piling up in the Midwest and the West Coast, I can confirm that this is not true. My brother, who lives in the Midwest, tells me there are plenty of weddings, and most graduating classes are all married by age 23 or less. I live in Lakewood. The thousands of single girls you say are not true. Especially not in the high 20s and older. And BH for that. And the girls over age 25 in any city will tell you themselves that their problem is not in getting dates, but in getting the "right" dates. Yes, many parents and many families are picky and have specific hang-ups, and they are too quick to turn down ideas, but that can not be the communities crisis. Those parents and those families have to figure things out between themselves, their single daughters, and the family therapist.
@Amatchmadeinheaven-kj9kg
@Amatchmadeinheaven-kj9kg Жыл бұрын
I wish you are right. As a Lakewood Shadchenta I can tell you that you are in a fantasy world. Of course there are 1000's of weddings annually and even in the Midwest there are plenty of weddings but this doesn't change the fact that Lakewood and other cities have a hangover of 1000's of girls that are in Shidduchim for over 3 years. When is the last time you checked Montreal and Toronto? LA & Chicago, Switzerland alone has over 90 girls that are over 3 years in Shidduchim, Even the Lakewood Rosh Yeshivos finally woke up (little too late) and are trying to do something about it. Thank God that someone like Mr Schwartz finally brings up a crisis that is shoved under the rug for years and you are talking about playing gulf.

It's a small percentage, but because he deals with them every day he thinks it's way more. That's how echo chambers work, they create an illusion of volume. On the other hand, every single person who suffers is a whole world and it's great that there's someone trying to help them
