Guys: a million+ families in the PI live quite well on around $400/$500 a month. If a sole foreigner can't manage that on $700/$1000 a month, I have no sympathy. Just remember you live there and you're not on holiday. Do that and you'll be fine.

If you avoid women and bars it’s doable. but that’s the allure that drives foreigners from going there in the first place 🤣🤣 but with no pinay to shop, cook, wash your clothes, and show you the ropes, take you to immigration, fill out paperwork, go to mall to pay your bills,etc ,etc, you can get lost in the shuffle pretty easily.. if you plan on finding that young hottie expect your monthly expenses to shoot up a minimum of 1,000 dollars a month, maybe much more as you will be financially taking on her whole family 😊and stragglers

Been living here in PH for 12 years now with my wife and 2 kids. Kids go to a private school and our monthly expenses barely go over $1000. Half the time it's under $1000. It's about the lifestyle you choose. And no we don't live in some remote province or island. We live 40 mins away from Metro Manila. We go out to nice restos or parks 2 or 3 times a month. My take on budgeting in the Phil circa 2023 based on my experience: - Renting decent apartment/condo: 10k - 15K ($200-$300 USD) - Electric: 4k - 8k or around $100 USD (depending on how much you run the AC units you have--get an inverted type if you can) - Water: around 600 PHP or $12 USD - Food: 15K or $300 - $1000 USD (depends on how "well" you want to eat, and if you are feeding other people, dogs, etc..) - Renewing tourist visa: about 2000 PHP ($40 USD month) or 3500 every two months, plus you need to buy an Alien Registration Card once a year (around $75 USD or 3000 PHP) - Health saving: 5000 or $100 USD - try and put some money in savings every month for emergencies or health care needs, dentist, etc.. - Transportation: 500 - 10K PHP or $10 - $200 USD - depends on how much you want to travel, and if you want to own a bike/car I'm probably missing a few things, but I'd say $1000 USD is the BEAR minimum. It all depends on how much you want to live like a Westerner or a local. I'd say you need at least $2000 USD in passive income (or from working remotely) a month (after taxes) in order to live comfortably (i.e. like a Westerner) here. Also add another $1000/mo if you plan on helping/supporting a Pinay and her family.

Now if you like having a fun lifestyle like if you enjoy nightlife, malling and other recreation, you will need to be careful as these can be the main reason why you could spend more than your budget. $700 is a realistic budget but won't be advisable for the first few months living here and if you want luxurious way of living. You need to have an emergency fund too for unexpected events like accidents or you want to get our quickly. At $1000 you will be have a middle class to upper middle class lifestyle over there. At night medical care it’s gotta be emergency room service and you only have to pay less than $200 without insurance? Try it in the States oh and the dreaded 3-8 hr wait, consider it a bargain.

Well -- I sure hope I can make my $1500 SS income work over there ? -- Lipa City is reported to be very cheap and cooler weather at 1000 feet elevation. Has easy day trips to Manila for fun or quality hospitals if needed. An hour to the beaches. Beautiful scenery and about everything you need. -- It's been reported to cost a single person $750 / mo. to live there. (( 1/2 of my income. )) 😃

I have diferent expiwrience.i cook at home potato $3 kg meat more expensive than in the west specially beef bit pricy.milk $4a liter cheese ham is a luxury. good bread and cakes r expensive.so i spend about $300 on food.i eat out once every few days to eat nice pizza or clean restaurant.i dont eat old food with flies at food court after i poison myself so bad. So i spend about $100 on restaurants.rent is questionable because if u r on holidays u can tolerate anything but on the long run u want confortable place.so it will cost u at least $300 a month.i spend $200 on masage i love it. Entertainment $200 Going places and shoping$100 to $200 a month.motorbike petrol service taxis at least$100 Alcohol $50 Medical and other expenses internet 100 to 200. Thats minimum if u have bad spending habits its double. Btw i dont eat rice often maybe once a week.? Im lucky my gf doesnt do nails make up clothes or anything.if u have a greedy gf she will cost u $500a month ive been with girls like this b4. If i ever retire there i go to emty place not like manila or cebu and buy farm so i can have my own food. Still u need to buy olive oil at $15 a bottle or butter at $5.its more expensive than in the west exept alcohol which is cheap.same with smokes if u smoke much u will b happy in phil. If u r single its great because u can have hundreds of girls they like foreigners.i got bored with diferent girls i found a good one.good luck dont watch one guy .he is russian and he doesnt eat potatoes and bread? Give him time he will miss it lol.

@BennyJSr., A used bike may be as little as $400 USD. A new scooter will be around $1,400 USD.

@@LivingOverseasTV Better to buy a new motorcycle. They tend to drive things into the ground a lot. You can still get one for around $1000 US new if all you need is a basic bike.

Hello,. Was there a FOREIGNER FEE added to your HOSPITAL costs each time? If so how much was it? Thank you!
@Alex_Kosh Жыл бұрын
There's no official foreigner's fee. But some doctors can try to scam you asking $10000 for dislocated bone in shoulder. Because some of them are renting rooms in clinics and work like a small business inside.
@Ai-vq8rj Жыл бұрын
If you had a dislocates shoulder you dont go to doctor but instead find a Hilot which can do a massage and bobe realignment. They can also tell if you really need a doctor.Hilots are really good they are like a chiropractor but with traditional medicine practice.

“Come back tomorrow to get stitched-up?” What a crack up. The best thing about the Philippines is if one has a medical emergency and you happen to arrive to the hospital within the golden hour, you will not suffer. Because one will need to pay for services before any intervention. By then, you’re dead. Unless, of course you’re Pacquiao. This is every hospital in the country and many hospitals outside the big city does not have a physician in the ER, they have to be called in (?).

I got food poisoning once in Doumagete, eating the same squid casserole the second day as well was a big mistake, had total immunity collapse I had red itchy dots scratched turned into open wounds, then realised it was because of food guess its simmering to keep it warm, and that was the only mishap as yet as to food in my whole life..
