The collective lancha service from Rio Dulce to Livingston in the Caribbean takes about an hour and a half. You can go to the boat terminal under the bridge OR arrange to have them pick you up. The cost is Q125 per person one way and Q200 round-trip. They go back and forth everyday at 9:30 am and 14:30 in the afternoon. It is a scenic ride with lots to see including a little bird nest island, a lilly pad heaven, palm-frond roofs and waterfront houses, hotels and restaurants. The trip down is worth the price of the ticket!
We also "hop" over to Punta Gorda, Belize for a couple hours in order to renew our toursit visa in Guatemala. Unfortunately, we end up feeling a little taken advantage of but the place is beautiful and the people were happy and friendly. It also happened to be Valentine's Day!

The black community doesn’t call gifiti it’s call Garifunas and we speak Garifuna as well not criollo. Gifiti is a traditional medicine drink.
