You could take a bus from Summit train station to the mall. As a teenager in the 70s, on weekends we would take the bus up to the mall and hang out.

I remember the Mall in the 70s and 80s in its prime. Hahnes, Epstein's, Bamberger's. B-Dalton and Walden Books. Hermans's World of Sporting Goods. Lorry's Restaurant. Sam Goody. There was also a comic book store in the early 80s I remember well. I remember at age 14 in 1983 WALKING all the way from my home in Chatham Township to the mall one Friday morning just because my parents were gone for the day and comics were coming out I wanted to get. Eventually the decline really settled in.

@@THERVDJ I remember leaving at 9 AM, getting there about 12 (ate at the first Burger King that was there; it was located next to a Swensen's Ice Cream place) I started back 45-50 minutes later and I think because of exhaustion I made it home at 4 PM or so. Never did that again!

Such fond memories, though, right? You are not much older than me. I was 10 in 1983. The mall has come up in recent town hall meetings, and the residents are looking to see what exactly they have in mind for it. It was always my go to mall.

It is a huge mall. Sad to see such a loss. Hopefully there will be a turnaround to revive the real estate.

We have larger malls in the area. This one doesn't break the 1 million plus square foot size like the other 2 we have close by do. That makes it easier to do my daily walk in. 🤣

Dead. The mall has like 40% occupancy. I heard Macys there is closing next year. There is no coming back for it.

@retailhiphop1991 thanks for watching! That's probably the case as usual, but the town residents have already asked questions about the mall at meetings, so hopefully they will not just let it sit there and rot. Livingston is a big money town, so I doubt they would. Love your channel btw!
