I think what matters is where each of you are really at in your lives. Sometimes people who are older want more out of a relationship than you can/then you are ready to give them. In your early twenties, you want to really go out and live your life to the fullest and I think a lot of the time people getting closer to their thirties are starting to wind down. But this is really a person by person sort of thing. If he's not like that, then I think you'll be okay.

I agree with a lot of other comments saying that an age gap is one thing, a life gap is another. If you're on the same walk of life, why not? But if he's like looking to totally grow up start a family and stuff and you're not, then no. One of my friends is 19 and dating a guy ten almost eleven years older, but he just got over his party stage and she never was into the party life style so it all works, yenno? My parents are only 3 years apart, but I don't think age really matters once you're an adult. If someone in high school is dating someone in middle school then it's a little weird, but once you're out of "grade school", who cares!

My boyfriend and I have a nine year age (I'm 21, he's almost 30) gap and it really doesn't effect anything. We're both festie's and actually met at a rave. It's cool to not be with someone who is childish, already in their career, he supports my dreams, and encourages me to not give up.

I think when you're in your 20's a 10 year age difference isn't important or a big deal. What IS important is that the guy you are with respects you and gets along with you, and respects your interests and space, and that you have similar interests as well. Just go for it! If you decide not too, you might regret it. I have regretted stuff in the past, but took a chance with my first boyfriend and even though it didn't work out after a year it was a great experience and made me more confident! That is how I try to look at things, as an experience like my mom says. I feel that you are mature for your age and know what you want and are independent and maybe a guy who is like that would be good for you! Good luck and you have to let us know how it goes!

I was recently with someone who was 20, I am now 24, during the time we were together it seemed like age did not matter, but after it ended I realized in the long run it kinda would matter. I graduated university and am going back to school, I know what I want out of life and where I want to go. He doesn't know what he wants to do and is still figuring it out. I think that what matters is how mature someone is and if their lives match yours, if that makes sense. You are 21 and he is 30, you really have to sit and think what stages you both are in life. 9 years is not too too bad, but I would really think about it! Good luck!

It's different if the couple is older because it doesn't seem as strange. A younger couple with a big age gap can make a big difference. However, seeing as Lindsey is an adult in her 20's I really don't see any issue with it.

if the dog thing bothers you, you can get a dog ramp or ladder! they sell them on amazon and stuff like that. I have dachshund, and I know small dogs like our dogs can get really bad back problems because of jumping. (my dog's almost 14 and had back surgery last year from over jumping throughout her life) it takes a bit to train them but its totally worth it to avoid the issues!! I hope you see this cause it could really help

I think it completely depends on a case to case basis with age gaps. It really is just a number! I was 18 talking to a 26 year old, and we were so alike it never really crossed my mind there was anything wrong with it. The places we were at in our lives caused us to part ways.

I think that the age gap is too much also, I didn't originally think this but because I've been in relationships with much older guys your goals aren't exactly aligned because they are ready to settle down and create a family but you are still at that partying age.... but that's really between the two people so who knows. you make that decision Linds

I just want you to be happy! As long as the guy respects you I don't think his age matters. In dating age doesn't matter as long as you are in the same stage of life. You are at a more advanced stage of life (I.e, graduated college, living on your own, having your own business) than most people typically are at your age, so dating a 30 year old would be appropriate in my opinion. I hope it all works out! xx
