@@livjowen how long do you wait before going back in there to put him back in bed when he gets out?❤
@livjowen
@livjowen 17 күн бұрын
It depends on how often he was getting out of bed. When he first got out, I'd wait about a minute before putting him back in. If he kept getting out again and again, I'd wait up to two or three minutes between putting him back in. This way, he wouldn't learn that getting out leads to more attention from me. If he got out multiple times in a row, I’d wait longer so he’d realize I wouldn’t come back right away, which eventually made him give up and get back into bed himself - which you saw him do in the video a few times. If he got out of bed and ran into the hallway or the around rest of the house, I immediately put him back in bed. My rule is that they stay in or around their bed and don't leave the room. You also see me doing this over and over and over again in the video while sped up. Hope that helps! 🫶🏻

Ma’am, I’ve been binge watching your shorts and you speak to everything that makes sense to me as a parent. I’ve been a step mom for about 8 years and it can be discouraging sometimes because I am often shunned by other moms for not being a biological mother although this is exactly the way I parent. I try to give advice but since I’m not a “real mom” people don’t tend to take me seriously. It’s a breath of fresh air seeing how well mannered and emotionally regulated your children are as my stepson is as well! All that to say, you’re an amazing mother and I aspire to continue on my journey of parenting with my biological children soon! 🤍

Love your family Olivia! Ok so seeing your explanation is like a behind-the-scenes of a movie. I had NO idea how much went into the process, and it’s helping me understand because you make it look so simple and easy, and it is really, really useful and a little relieving to understand the planning that went behind “I keep my voice positive” and all that you did plan. Seeing both together is definitely more helpful than just seeing one or the other, but it takes effort for you to do all that you do so take that with a big boulder of salt. Just sharing your family and parenting style has been a joy up to this point for me, so know that there are real people out here just happy to see happy babies and a really good parent. Your kids will always have a super unique bond like my friend who was a child of six who were very close, and very loved. 🤍 You’re doing great, and so proud of River! His confidence is inspiring. He’s ready to be the conversationalist, and I love hearing his words. 😊 Explaining to him what he’s explaining to you, so he knows he’s understood, that is priceless.

This might be unexpected, but I am learning so much through your videos about how to love myself and parent myself, and help myself to throw away my addictions. I'm 27 and had a very difficult childhood, and had an ambivalent and chaotic relationship with my parents. My father was a rage and my mother was emotionally absent. So I fell into addictions to soothe myself. I think.. addiction attachments are adult binkies. So, thank you for helping me to throw away my binkies, and to parent myself in the process.😥🥰👍🏻🌟

Well done Olivia! Hurray!! 🎉 You are using all the right plans and tools to raise successful children! When I took my toddlers (2.5 and 3.5 year olds) off the bottle, I informed them that their super hero came and took the bottles as they are big boys now and had them using sippy cups from then on out. They had little reaction, since it was their super hero that took the bottles. When they were scared of monsters at night, I “consistently” told them that monsters cannot come into our home because they have dirty feet. They realized that I wouldn’t allow monsters into the house and that ended the fear of monsters situation. To this day, I can count to three and they will do as I say before I get to three. Olivia, you are spot on when you tell us moms to be consistent. That is the golden ticket for successful training. And adding that we need to tend to our relationship is just as vital. Believe it or not, children want routines and consistency as they feel more secure when that is in place. I enjoy these longer format videos as it gives more insight into your techniques. All the best to you and your family!!!

Muchas gracias Olivia❤

As a dad of 4 kids we start to damage the binky so that it is harder to suck on like putting a vertical cut not so any pieces come off but so the shape is not efficient to suck, do it in secret so they just start not working you need to do it before they are old enough to realize you can just buy a new one. They you can slowly damage it more i.e. cut a tiny bit off of the tip after a while they just started loosing interest. Your not taking it away it is just slowly not working as good.

As a Taekwondo instructor who frequently deals with tantrums, her way is the best! You gotta make sure the kid is heard while giving them alternatives to their tantrum, otherwise your job as an authority figure(Im nowhere close to a father in anyone’s eyes) becomes so much harder. Keep posting stuff like this, the backlash is from people who don’t know how to work with children very well!

Oh, removing the pacifier first 100%. I am very late with River this time around. Normally, I remove the binky much earlier and then then toddler bed. Hope that helps! ❤️

@@livjowen Thank you so much for the prompt response! Yes, very helpful. I will start working on removing the pacifier first. This is my first child so I have learned and implemented a lot from your videos. Thank you again.

Hello! I love watching your vids as a first time mom and you have helped me so much so far, my daughter is actually also 18 mths old and I think I am going to try to use your techniques to help take her off. I was wondering what time you recommend starting potty training? And if River isn’t already I would love to see some tips on that as well if you don’t mind. I’ve been trying with my daughter but nothing is really taking so some advice would be appreciated 🫶 Thank you !

Hello! I’m so glad my videos have helped you as a first-time mom! 💖 I generally start potty training around 2.5 years old. I’ve tried it earlier and later, but that’s usually the age I dive in. 😊 I’d be happy to share some tips on potty training and what’s worked for us with River soon! 🫶

My son just turned 18 months old, and we were contemplating how to wean him off his pacifier. We have a long 25-hour flight coming up and thought we'd wait until after the trip. However, after watching your video, I felt motivated to act now, realizing that there will always be excuses. Today is the first day without his pacifier, and he's crying and standing near the trash, asking for his binky. I hope he will understand and fall asleep soon. I love your videos and wish you happiness always!❤

Love this longer, in depth video! My 2 month old is a paci girl so I’ll have to come back to this in 10 months when we’re ready to transition out of it ❤️. I would also love to see a video like this when you guys do potty training! My husband and I want to potty train her at a reasonable time so that would be a great video for us as well 🥰.

Love this longer form content! I also have an 18 month old and feel like his pacifier is making tantrums worse as well. This is exactly what I needed to feel more confident in moving forward with getting rid of it. Thank you!

You did so well mama❤❤ I have a question about food How do I let my 8 and a half months boy eat by himself? when i offer food he just play with it , he never grab it to put it in his mouth
@cd7744
@cd7744 16 күн бұрын
Honestly he's just probably not old enough yet! The "pincer grasp" that they use to grab food isn't really developed until 9-12 months. Give him time! And some kids develop a little later! You can try toys that encourage fine motor skills that may help him with eating. But just keep practicing and showing him, demonstrate, sit next to him and show him how you eat finger foods. He'll get there, he's just still young!
