Diatone Mamba F405 MINI FC - REPAIR

In this video, I am repairing a Diatone Mamba F405 Mini FC. The MCU was killed so the solution is to transplant a good MCU from a killed PCB. The repair was a success!

I have a Matek F405-STD Flight Controller same chip, but trying to find the problem has become a pain, I've removed the MCU STM32F405 plus 2 diodes and 2 3.3v regulators BUT I still have a short on the ground to 3.3, I assume its a capacitor that's shorted?

I'm curious. Would it help the MCU solder melt easier if you add leaded solder to the legs before you try to remove it with the heat gun? I have this same board that has a bad MCU and am planning on repairing it once I order a hot air gun.

if you don't have a hot air gun, and order a fresh MCU, cutting the legs one by one with a fine tip cutter would work also. After that just desolder the legs and solder new MCU leg by leg or by solder drag technique.

@@LivyuFPV I did that to replace a 3.3v regulator. A hot air gun is my next purchase. I just wondered if adding leaded solder to the lead free solder holding the MCU down would lower the melting temp of the lead free solder that's holding the MCU down. These repair videos you do are great. I never would have thought this kind of repair could be done until I seen you showing how to do them. I've ordered 3.3v regulators and a couple F405 MCUs so I can attempt this kind of repair. Unless a guy is rich, China's quality control makes this repair skill a necessity. I have at least $200 worth of boards that are junk unless I can repair them and I've only been in this hobby since May.

Great video, thanks. I have the same fc. When I connect it to usb, mcu becomes so hot sich that it can burn my fingers. If I am qucik enough, I can connect it to bf so it seems mcu is fine. I checked shorts in pins and there is nothing. I wonder what can be the reason?

I have a 30x30 mamba with the same issue, from what I understand it can be 2 things: broken mcu or broken voltage regulator (either 5v or 3.3v, check if the outputs of these regulators are shorted to ground and if they aren't check if they output the correct voltage)

I just thought could you make a video on how to check for errors on a Bord like this. I Guess not always you see burn marks that determines it’s dead. For example I have a spendix where the cpu gets hot but so I guess it’s that but not sure. Any procedure you recommend. Like check certain power rails or something like that. Like your videos and looks so easy:)

3.3v power rail. If MCU gets very hot then it is probably that one.

Hi, I am waiting for a DJI air unit to try and repair it. But for the Video stream out on the USB-C from the goggles... a really good software guy could hack it and make the video out possible. Hope someone will have the time and willingness to do it.
