The Ikea I used to work at did Valentines day dinners, £14 for both people, the restaurant staff had to work as waiters. Only one person who worked there actually took their partner to it and he and his wife are genuinely divorced now.

He relies on his good looks & charm. In fairness to him, he does make a good stay at home dad. Since she loves her job and he hates the corporate machine but is great with kids, it actually does work out for them. I've just known too many couples where the dad stays at home with the kids & ignores them just to play playstation all day every day, while the mom works a miserable job wishing she could be home with her kids more.

I've only visited IKEA as a single person or with my family...I've seen human mental destruction of epic magnitude inside that store between couples and I've seen families with multiple children turn into raging samplers of the showroom set pieces...yes, I walked around a corner and 12 yr boy was shitting in the prop toilet. I found the 1st employee I could find and when I told them, it didn't change the entranced hopelessness that had already consumed their eyes.

So true... I hate ikea too... Its sooo Large.. Got tired walking from parking lot to their shop maze.. Endless options which are basically all same... Then wasting time calculating how much each will cost with shipping and assembly... Feels like waste of time and money in the end.. Better buy from local furniture shop... Also ikeas accessories and cutlery are way more better than their furnitures

Many years ago, I got an apartment with my the GF. We went to IKEA, and I had €1000. I really thought that would be enough for our small apartment. But one of her friends came along, and at the end I had to borrow over €1000 from her to pay for all the things they both picked out. Never go to IKEA with more than one woman.

"Niedergang" in German is "decline". "Niedergaenger" would be "decliner", neither of which exist in either German or English. "Niedergang" is "nedgång in Swedish, so why German in an Ikea? I think because Tina Fey knows some German, and it "sort of" sounds like Swedish for her...as an American. In one of the other 30 Rock skits, Liz Lemon confused the German, "kaufen" ("to buy"), with "verkaufen" ("to sell") when NBC was being sold to a German firm.
